Ppl. So vis a vis the docs., on usa.tv like cnn., it Will be a problem now and in the future
I was on 4 mg a day since 2009. I moved here in Oct. No doc would refill it. Even a psychiatrist told me no. After about four doctors I found one who gave me .5mg twice a day not even close to what I need. So I went back to iops. They all wanted me on ssri. I said I had tried every one of those things since I was 18 I'm 39 I'm not depressed I have bad anxiety especially even worse in crowds of people and have it every day. At one time I was on 4mg klonopin and 4mg xanax along with suboxone. That just goes to show how much things have changed.
I know this is an older thread but I have for insomnia, My current sleep specialist is Indian and does not believe in treating sleep problems with drugs. My old doctor starting in July 2014, 2 years after Oregon health plan was implemented, I had my Primary care very upset with me for continuing my dose of Temazepam and Ambien and he referred me to my current sleep specialist due to the DEA/FDA restrictions. He explained with the new systems being put in place he gets harassed by the DEA over long term benzos for sleep aids. My sleep specialist does not get harassed TMK, but she mostly treats people needing C-PAPS.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately most Doctors either know shite all about the medicines they prescribe, or they just don't care. The salesman from the pharma company sells them on SSRI's and now we have a whole generation on them, even kids. Still everyone I know in the states are getting there anxiety meds cut in half, then in half again, then replaced. I have had doctors try to give me antipsychotics for anxiety because they get harassed less for prescribing respiridol than they do for prescribing traditional anxiety meds for anxiety. Who cares what happens to the patient. If you have anxiety, and want anxiety medicine you are a drug seeker and get red flagged. Its sad. It turns a lot of people into criminals against their will. Scofflaws they would have called us a century or two ago. Now we are just more fodder for the drug war that helps keep our gov't afloat. Hope you all find some relief out there somewhere. I thank god for places like this.

I had a candid conversation with a doctor recently and was told they get audited periodically to check if they are prescribing an abnormal number of benzos. The situation varies a bit country to country, state to state, but I think that is part of the issue.
Be interesting to see in a few years the effects of mass prescribing anti-depressants on millions of people,where I am I know quite a few who are now prescribed mirtazipine,I think that med has caused me all kind of side effects/illnesses,when I next see my doc am telling them I want off it,is going to be an interesting appointment,of course I dont have years of uni medical study diplomas after my name so what do I know?

I'm also on 45mg of Mirtazapine everynight, its the only AD that i've stayed with for more than a few months. What kind of side effects are you getting or know of, if its ok to ask? I haven't noticed any other than the weight gain. I've been on that dose now for around 2 years(I think, or longer), but I also take Quetiapine which my psych says "complements" the Mirtazapine really well.
Are the Mirtazapine addictive? Cuz that kinda couteracts the reason for her not precribing my Diazepam, amongst other things!!

Hi Izzy,yes,they are addictive,check the leaflet out,don't stop them abruptly.
Side effects I have had are rashes,joint pain,stomach problems and possibly problems with my eyes/vision.
I put weight on at first but had lost it by end of the year,find eating difficult some days,constant feeling tired.
Am on the 30mg,am going to ask to come off them,you know when you don't feel well from something,I didn't need to look at the leaflet to know these are causing me to not feel well.
All SSRI's and MAOI's I have experience with have terrible side effects and do not work until they build up in your system for close to a month. Not exactly great for a panic attack. I have tried quite a few, and haven't found a single one that the benefits outweigh the side effects for me. But some people can take them no problem, and benefit from them, it all depends on your condition. Good luck to the people that are on them, they can be incredibly helpful when prescribed correctly, and may be what you need. They are just not the cure-all that Docs sometime treat them as, in my opinion.

So now they are cutting down benzos . Not something new for government influenced health systems. And what about the SSRI epidemic ? Are they considering cutting down really harmful and habit-forming medicines like Cymbalta? No, they won't I think. They only try to make an impression to conservative voters for their war against drugs and send the message that you have to pay more for your benzo Rx and do a lot more doctor shopping to get what you need. They are really sending bad vibes to all those in need for their medicines once again and spread panic to patients that need no more anxiety in their lives.
