Marijuana washing up on Florida beaches

By Sarah Westwood

Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of marijuana is floating off Florida's coast and are being washed up onto its beaches, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

"There has been a significant spike in drugs washing up on shore," said Todd Bryant, the division chief for CBP in Miami. He said the increase might reflect a "shift in smuggling methods" by those who traffic in illegal drugs.

CBP said between Sept. 15-Oct. 12, almost 400 pounds of marijuana worth more than $300,000 were found in several places on Florida's coast.

Regardless of how it got there, CBP warned people Monday that anyone who finds suspicious packages on the beach should call law enforcement right away, and should not take possession of them.

"If you are out on a boat or on the beach and you see a suspicious package, call local law enforcement immediately," said Bryant.
"Attempting to keep the suspicious package can place you in danger, as violent criminal networks will attempt to recover their narcotics."
CBP encouraged people who see suspicious packages, or who might see the smuggling of illegal immigrants, to call 877-772-8146.

Thanks for the "heads up" Linville Smile

You know, back in the late 60's ... Early 70's .. We found pkgs washed up at McFaddin beach from where I grew up ... Evidently, they didn't package it a well as they do now, cause we had to dry it out (for testing purposes only) and somebody found out it tasted aweful!! But back then, I guess the "guy" didn't care about the taste ...

(No animals were hurt during the testing of this substance) Wink

Ice
Ice, Ha, right....isn't that the best news story you've seen in a while.

Just a friendly "heads up" , heh heh.......wait are we having too much fun reading the news.. Tongue
boy, i sure do hope that majority of vendors realize that pills won't necessarily fare too well if smuggled into US via water.

so, whom is for moving to florida? i kid. i kid. too many hurricanes.

could the hurricane have wreaked havoc with some cartel's boat and product got spilled?

Those people will terminate ur existence over touching even a J of their product. I do not believe the cartel believes in: Finders Keepers rules.
MJ and C*c@1ne wash up on the shore more often than is reported in the national news. Much is intercepted by the coast guard---huge amounts, worth in the millions. They tend to really brag about their war on magazines silliness. R.
Puts kind of a new twist on "beach comibing".  I mean shells are nice, but . . .

"Look, I found a chambered nautilus . . . with some bu^ in it!"

Yeah, I know, it's like gambling.  Just take your winnings (small) and run home.

That's funny.
