Hey guys,

I pulled a muscle in my back at work and my doctor of course told me to rest and take time off from work. Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of taking off from work right now. So she told me to take ibuprofen and flexeril to help with the back spasms and pain. Back pain is not new for me, I work a pretty physical job so this wasn't a suprise to my doctor. Flexeril is helpful but it makes me so sleepy that I can't take it at work. Believe me I've tried. I even tried taking half a dose but found that while it didn't make me tired it also didn't help my back either. I tried baclofen and it didn't make me tired but didn't help at all. Soma works but most docs avoid it like the plague now. So my question is what are some good options that I can actually use and be functional at work?
skelaxin maybe? I don't get tired from it
Really? No one else here has any other suggestions. Its getting better I went and got a massage took a long soak took the flex laid on the heating pad until it loosened up enough to fall asleep. Worked a different job for a couple days to try and give my back a break and going from there. I just don't want push too hard and mess myself up worse.
To me the most effective have been s0m@s.
Thanks for the replies guys. I didn't know about the creams, I bet that would be a good workaround. I'm thinking that would work to relax my muscles and not make me drowsy. That sounds amazing. I will definitely ask my doc about that when I see her next week. I am daydreaming now about getting that massaged onto my back. I'll give the baclofen another try in the meantime maybe it was just too low of a dose. I'll try 1 and a half when I get home. Thanks everyone. ☺️
If you have one of the float spas in your area I very highly recommend you take a float or two, the epsom salts they put in the water act as a natural muscle relaxer and it really relaxes your whole body. I had a neck injury a while back, saw my chiro who usually helps but didn't this time, went to the dr & got Flexiril which makes me sleepy so can only take at nite. I went to the float place and after a one hour float my neck felt better than it had in months.
