Chief Naiche (ca. 1857-1919) was the final hereditary chief of the Chiricahua band of Apache Indians. Naiche's name, which in English means "meddlesome one" or "mischief maker", is alternately spelled Nache, Nachi, or Natchez. He was the youngest son of Cochise. Naiche died on March 16, 1919 in Mescalero, New Mexico

I read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, well most of it,could not at the time finish it,it became seriousley depressing reading all the things the newcomers did to the native folk of America, all those western movies as a kid were always making out the native folk were the bad guys, not true was it,reminds me a little of how the Aboriginal folk in Australia were treated by British and European settlers, how people can have done this is pretty sickening, watching what went on at the oil pipeline just made me think nothings changed thatmuch esp when it comes down to money and what those lands hold, very sad that humans can do this to a wise and noble race of people, some of the excuses they hid behind to justify their atrocities were just blasphemous and pure evil.
really intriguing. i remember we spent a semester reading Indian American books such as Black Elk speaks.

It was horrific what we did to these people. Ok, i know the Bible commands war at times. But, what i recall most, is that we Americans gave mothers blankets filled with small pox germs. My sister and i never got over that. When a mother wants her baby warm, she would gladly take the blanket and never assume what evil lay behind the motives for giving the blanket.

very sad chapter in our history. When the Irish were facing the British induced famine on us, The American Indians sent food to help us. God will certainly bless them for kindness they showed to others.
I grew up in South Dakota and knowing as an adult what was done to our Native Americans makes me sad and ashamed for the way they are viewed/treated in states like SD.

Does anyone live near a reservation ? Do they actually still have those in the US ? There used to be a small display in the library in the town where i grew up.
There were pics of some of the local wealthy mill owners visiting some tribe, there were also a small amount of Native American stuff, purses decorated with beads, some childs shoes as i remember, i always wondered how they got these things, later on in life as i got older i really wondered how they came about these things knowing the reality of what really went on, wish i knew which tribe it was with all the pictures of, was a fairly large looking reservation, lots and lots of tee-pees.
I remember reading somewhere about the blankets with small pox, they didnt stand much chance against the diseases the settlers brought with them, even a common cold could cause a lot of damage to them as they had never been exposed to the settlers viruses before.

Such a sad part of history.
There are still many reservations in the US. It's very sad. I remember as a kid driving by them and wondering why they were so trashed out. I didn't understand that their land had been stolen and they were forced to live on the reservations.
Global "warming" and freezing have been happening for eons.... I believe there were at least 3 0r 4 Ice ages and the glaciers that formed our Great lakes had cliffs taller than our Empire State building... So what melted these huge chunks of ice.... car emissions??? Cow poots??? I highly doubt that,,, We are just in the middle of yet another great freeze all... So grab your hats and stand the F by... and enjoy the warmth while you still have it...

(This is just my take on things and never to be confused with actual fact)
