Back in the 80's, Hypoglycemia was officially declared the Source of All Evil, then it was Candida Overgrowth, then it was Saturated Fat, etc. etc. etc.
Fads come and go (and I admit to adding and subtracting supplements accordingly) but I've had a list of Essential Daily Supplements which I've stuck to for years.
We are a maverick bunch in here. It's clear that many of us have chosen - or been forced to - take our health into our own hands.
This doesn't mean we're immune to sophisticated advertising campaigns, but my impression is that IOPListers are prepared to do what they find is right for themselves.
This is often despite what the Experts (or Celebrities!) of the day say.
For instance, I remember being TOLD years ago by a General Practitioner that "It's been proven that multivitamins give you expensive urine at best and cancer at worst". Uggghhhh.
Did I listen? No. Did I keep taking my Multivitamin? Yes. Thank Heavens.
So. To My List:-
A potent Multivitamin (one that's high in activated B's + Selenium, Zinc, Molybdenum, etc.) 1/2 tab twice a day with meals.
Vitamin D 7000iu/day (2k with breakfast and 5k with dinner)
Magnesium 800mg elemental Mg (400mg twice a day with meals)
Fish Oils EPA540mg+DHA360mg per cap (1 cap twice a day with meals)
Probiotic - 50billion CFU from 11 strains (1 cap per day)
Prebiotic fiber blend (Inulin FOS, acacia fiber, jerusalem artichoke, green banana flour) 5 grams powder once a day. (This is a new addition)
I could write pages justifying why these supplements are right for me - but that would just be self-indulgent and make extremely boring reading.
Let's just say "I have my reasons". I'm interested to learn what other IOPListers have on their Essential Daily Supplement list.
