Stephen Moore withdrawing from Fed Board consideration, Trump tweets

UPDATED ON: MAY 2, 2019 / 1:11 PM / CBS NEWS

Stephen Moore, President Trump's pick for the Federal Reserve Board who had become highly controversial over past comments about women and views on monetary policy, is withdrawing his name from consideration, the president tweeted Thursday afternoon.

"Steve Moore, a great pro-growth economist and a truly fine person, has decided to withdraw from the Fed process. Steve won the battle of ideas including Tax Cuts...and deregulation which have produced non-inflationary prosperity for all Americans. I've asked Steve to work with me toward future economic growth in our Country," the president wrote.

It had become unclear whether Moore had enough votes to pass in the Senate, with some Republicans casting doubt on whether Moore, who had yet to be formally nominated, could garner enough support.

In an interview with Bloomberg News just hours before Mr. Trump announced he was withdrawing, Moore said he was "all in" and had the support of the White House.

The White House had been reviewing Moore's past comments, in which he suggested women didn't belong in or at sporting events, among other controversial statements.

But the White House insisted Mr. Trump stood behind Moore, despite his comments.

"The president stands behind him," top Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said earlier this week.

Moore's withdrawal from the process comes not long after Herman Cain also withdrew from consideration after past allegations of sexual misconduct against women resurfaced.

Last night:

Stephen Miller is the senior political advisor for POTUS...your title was a shock to me when I read it cuz I’m sure Miller will stay in place until 2024.

Stephen Moore, as in the article, is the one who withdrew from the FED.

Thanks for the update!
Yes, the Stephen Miller stuff broke yesterday AFTER I posted this about Sephen Moore.
I am aware of the difference between the 2 men. I MEANT Stephen Moore when I wrote this.
Pianist, I'm sorry. My title to the thread was wrong. It should have said Stephen Moore resigns...however, I would probably do a happy dance if that POS Miller resigned.
My apologies about the title blunder.

Again, I really do need to stay out of this thread. BUT...

Does anyone remember this? Before becoming "president" the guy was always pro-choice. Now I believe it is known as antichoice. Imo opinion it can not be called pro-choice any longer. Abortion is a very personal issue and choice that is hard enough for women. The LAST thing this country needs is this guy further dividing groups with differing opinions, just for lobbyist's agendas and donating huge $$$ for his re-election.

Years ago..and this was also his opinion as an entertainer. Enen more so then bc he didn't have to hold back for money.

No matter what you think about the president, he will go far o.j. history thus far as the biggest liar narricist that has ever held office.

And that's it. I'm done here. I'm not engaging in heated arguments and risk getting banned because of personal opinions and defending my beliefs.
Not directed at Audrey:

The president lied and people are surprised? What president hasn't lied or changed stance? Maybe a couple in history. Dig up all the lies n fibs and you'd have 1000's of pages of quotes.

Pretty shocking to see 'average Joe' siding with ANY politician. Right or left. Politicians are full of it and it's always been that way.

Trumps a Bush-ite era Democrat and could care less about abortion. That said he's being careful with the (Radical) far right to maintain support of these anti abortion whack jobs. They're nutz so he's telling them what they need to hear. Votes count and losing isn't an option in 2020-that's how politicians roll. Def not the 1st time in politics someone switched stances.

Trumps not the end of the world as media would like you to believe. What's more a threat is the media themselves.....................
