My computer gets destroyed often doing a forum. And, I purchased the last 12 or more from best buy. and one pays for a warranty.

Supposed to be fixed for free.

Only once did best buy fix my computer. I contact the computer manufacturer and reformatt on my own cuz best buy is a bunch of useless idiots.

Be really careful now. I saw many a warning about the new windows updates breaking an impt part of the computer.

So, I was hacked. Last week. Got a new one from best buy but had no disks to reformatt. and it broke right away. Returned it and houseshare gets a giant screen laptop and now best buy charges a warranty. If u spill liquid on it. I stood there and saw them deny a new computer to many people.

And now windows 10 updates are destroying brand new computers. I don't think they would have returned my money but for the fact an employee of theirs took in our computer. Kept some cash. Put it in a bin stating it is fixed. Nothing was done to it.

So, I lucked out and got my money back and reformatted an old, old computer. I can fix it, but Best Buy cannot.

And if u recall BEst Buy commercials on selling and fixing computers, after windows 10 came out, one update and a line would fill the store waiting to have it fixed.

So, best buy started selling refrigerators, and washing machines. And coming to your home for a hefty fee to fix them.

Just be careful if this computer repair shop exists near you. Get disks from manufacturer and learn to reformatt.

Let Best buy stick to washing machines now.
That is excellent advise... I do not like win 10 at all..

I still have almost every operating system that M$ ever made (even "LongHorn" that they never released)
But that's another story Big Grin

Win 2k was a stable O$ but not game friendly ...

Seems like they make them to sell these days... Not to be used ...

I also have loads of "preventative" warez that may thwart a lot of the nonsense ...
But that's just me

Buyer beware ...

i think win 98 or such was my favorite. Win ten admitted that it is breaking some impt part of the computer if one does the update.

Saw an old AOL disk the other day. Dial up could be pretty fast.

The good ole days.
I have had poorer luck with apple products. My last 2 macbooks both died right after the applecare ended. And apple computers are very expensive compared to windows. So it's a huge hit when an apple laptop fails. Right now I don't even have a laptop or any computer at all since my last apple laptop broke like a month ago.
I was going to post a windows 10 TWEAKS-Tutorial- a few months ago, but some reason the forum wasn't allowing me to load the image art I created. Think forum settings allowed only 500Kb images. I remember having that limitation under 100 posts? But thought it was lifted. Anyway something seemed to have changed.

Win 10 is VERY invasive and takes quite a few tweaks to smooth everything out, but well worth the time.

My install looks and behaves like Windows 7.

To STOP Windows 10 from 'AUTO UPDATING' set your internet connection to 'Metered'

Start/PC Settings/Network and Internet/Change Connection Properties/Set as metered connection/ON

No Problemo  Cool
My old butt is still on Windows 7... I know, I know... they are going to stop supporting it next year.

I just cannot change....
Confession time... I used to work for a UK company very similar to Best Buy. As a salesman, my job wasn't really to sell the products (most people who came in already knew roughly what they wanted to buy). My job was to sell insurance and extended warranties. The profit margins on the electrical goods, including computer stuff, were very thin. It was always the insurance and warranties that made the company money.

If a salesperson is desperate to sell you some extras like a warranty, you know it is more in their interests to sell it than for you to buy it.

These days when shopping I politely tell the sales staff who I used to work for and they immediately give up pushing the insurance or warranty.

My advice is save the money, spend it on an external hard drive to back-up your computer.
