this. the free play or movie of RENT
NYC was a jungle back then. i visited the good parts of NYC and the bad. We had homeless and heroin came thru even westchester. so many died. And then the AIDS crisis occurred. And one of my closest friends was the first to die. All his damned celebrity clients abandoned him. But i went to his home and prayed for him and his "wife". Both had aids. Both were among the first to die in NYC. Lucille Balls daughter just loved BJ Pardo until he got AIDS. she was as much a bitch as her mother. Very nasty to people off screen.
But you can see when whole areas of NYC went abandoned. homeless and dying moved in. So did Anthony Fauci. He stole work on HIV from a colleague. And he insisted Aids can be transmitted without sexual contact b/w anyone. No proof of that at the time or thereafter. He wanted households to be locked up as he did in this pandemic. Rotten scum.
And now I hear that the HIV people take pills and so they don't show positive for HIV. But I imagine it is contagious still.
It was a sad and horrific time in NY. The City and the suburbs. We lost so many to the damned H, and then to the HIV.
So this movie is extremely sad to those of us whom lost so many. But it is what went down in NYC.
A wonderful history lesson and similar BS is going on again in US. All the deaths. And they are still occurring whenever Fauxci gets involved.

Charon,
From all of your posts I've read so far you seem like a very caring person, and I'm honestly sorry for the friends you lost during this time, it wasn't necessary and it was shameful for any elected official or disappearing "friends". My girlfriend in the mid 80's was super kind and highly motivated ( Lord knows what she saw in me ), and for years on Saturday we would deliver meals to AIDS patients who were too weak to shop. On the surface, I wouldn't have much in common with a 48 year old queen who spent hours putting on make up before we arrived with their meals. But after taking to many of them, we were the ONLY 2 people they saw all week. Most of their own parents had disowned them, knowing full well they were dying.
When we learned this, our Saturday mornings turned into an entire day. We became friends with the people on our route, and stopped taking new names so we could maximize our time with our new friends.
Being the AIDS crisis of the mid 80's, 1 by 1 our list grew shorter and we went to more and more Memorial Services. Eventually, unfortunately, our list had no more names. I will be honest even though I am ashamed to admit it, I just couldn't do it any more. I feel shame and anger at myself for being weak when there are SO many people who need some love and friendship in their time of most need, but I need to keep something in my tank for my own family and friends. Nevertheless, seeing how happy our friends were when we came by, it really eats at me why I don’t do that kind of volunteering work anymore, but I've witnessed so very much death as an adult that my brain isn't the same as it was in the 80's. I have the most respect for people who work in hospice care.

You helped and gave love to many people in dire circumstances. When one cannot handle it anymore, then one stops.
I am so proud of you and your GF. most people were terrified of HIV.
You have a life now. Enjoy it without guilt.
God bless you both for all that you did. Have a glorious day.
