KENOSHA, Wisconsin
Jurors acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse on all counts on Friday.

The jury reached the verdict just after 12:10 p.m. local time and the foreman
read it aloud in the Kenosha County Courthouse shortly afterwards.

Rittenhouse, 18, sat quietly before the verdict was read. Afterwards, he started
shaking and breathing heavily. He hugged his lawyer.

“You were a wonderful jury to work with,” Kenosha County Circuit Judge
Bruce Schroeder told jurors.

Schroeder also told the court not to react, “no matter how strongly” they feel
about the decision.

Rittenhouse faced up to life in prison for five charges, including first-degree
reckless homicide. A sixth charge was dropped on Monday.

Rittenhouse shot three men in Kenosha on Aug. 25, 2020. The first man,
Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, was advancing on him. Rosenbaum’s hand was over
the barrel of the rifle Rittenhouse held, according to expert testimony during
the trial. The closest witness said Rosenbaum lunged for the weapon.

Rittenhouse began running towards law enforcement officers but was attacked
by several people, including Anthony Huber, 26, who struck Rittenhouse’s head
with a skateboard. Rittenhouse shot Huber.

The third man who was shot, Gaige Grosskreutz, now 28, was pointing a handgun
at Rittenhouse when he was fired upon.

Rosenbaum and Huber died from their wounds. Grosskreutz survived with a
gunshot wound to his right bicep.

Defense lawyers and Rittenhouse said all three shootings were in self-defense.
Prosecutors said Rittenhouse was negligent and reckless in his handling of the
weapon and should have surrendered to those attacking him.

Wisconsin National Guard troops were stationed earlier this week about 60 miles
outside of Kenosha in case riots started in response to the verdict.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, a Democrat, had called for peace no matter
what the jury decided.

“I urge folks who are otherwise not from the area to please respect the community
by reconsidering any plans to travel there and encourage those who might choose
to assemble and exercise their First Amendment rights to do so safely and peacefully,”
Evers said in a statement.

Authorities in Kenosha said Tuesday that nothing had happened yet to trigger road
closures or other crowd control measures. They did not immediately respond
to the verdict.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during a briefing just before the verdict
that the White House would issue a statement after it was issued.

“We have been in close contact with officials on the ground through law enforcement
channels to ensure we are supporting any efforts toward peaceful protest,” she said.

Outside the courthouse, pro- and anti-Rittenhouse protesters gathered, as they have
been all week as the jury deliberated.

Vaun Mayes, who lives in Milwaukee, told The Epoch Times that the verdict wasn’t correct.

“It sends a message to the rest of the nation that folks can come down and agitate them,
and if anyone reacts you can shoot them,” he said. “Kyle did everything he was not
supposed to do and this was the result. He gets to claim self defense and walk away.”

Another man, who declined to be named but said he was from Los Angeles, said the verdict

“meant the Second Amendment survived.”

“Kudos to the court,” he said.

Quote:Who did he shoot?

Rosenbaum, 36, was released the day of the shootings from a
Milwaukee hospital where he had been treated for a suicide attempt.
It’s not clear why he was on Kenosha’s streets the night of the protests,
though he had a fiancé who lived in the city. His background includes a
conviction for sexual conduct with a minor in Arizona in 2002.

Huber is seen on video swinging a skateboard at Rittenhouse
before he was shot. He was known around Kenosha’s skateboarding
community, and his girlfriend, Hannah Gittings, said skateboarding was
his life. Huber served a pair of prison stints stemming from family conflict,
including choking his brother in 2012.

Grosskreutz previously said he attended several protests following
Floyd’s May 2020 death. With training as a paramedic, Grosskreutz had carried
medical supplies and was doing so the night of the Kenosha shootings.
He was also armed with a pistol and had it in his hand when he approached
Rittenhouse, who shot him in the arm.

Pure insanity. In a violent mob scene such as this, no way, no how am i giving up any weaponry i have on me to surrender to the arses attacking me. Insanity.
If the charges don't fit you must acquit. I sure hope he sues Biden for calling him a white supremacist while he was campaigning and all the news organizations which reported false information regarding the case. Kudos to the jury members who looked past the political and racial influences and based their decision the overwhelming evidence that this was a clear cut self defense case. Charges should have never been filed in the first place.
This is with respect to Charon and Ice Wizzard.
He was found not guilty...but this kid is NOT innocent and IMO shouldn't be hailed a hero.  2 people are dead and one permanently disabled.

He was underage, went across state lines with a weapon he couldn't legally buy himself, and put himself in a situation he had no business being in.  The Kenosha riots were happening bc of a racial police shooting.

I know about the criminal histories of the people he shot. Does that mean they deserved to be murdered? The jury decided he shot in self defense, but if any of us saw someone on the street pointing guns at people, who wouldn't try to disarm them?  And again, he was an idiot 17 year old, now 18 year old without a clue of what he is doing. Again, if he didn't put himself there, where he had no business, he wouldn't have had to go through everything and the murdered people would still be alive.  I truly believe we will be hearing George Zimmermanesque stories about this kid in the future.
Amazing that someone could be less deserving of that than Rush Limbaugh.

Before anyone jumps on me with conservative condemnation, I really hope a civil debate on both sides can come from this thread.
I am not pro-BLM by any means. They are dangerous, and the majority of the bandwagon jumping liberals that followed them should have educated themselves.  The first time I remember even hearing about BLM was after Ferguson. I was leaving my office in Chicago. BLM had NO problem being agressive to anyone who wasn't them.  BLM now is nothing but a money making scheme.
However, that kid was there after reading online about groups to "protect" businesses. Kenosha police told people not to go there, and civilians were not "deputized" to perform any LE duties. So again, my main point is, the kid should NOT have been there.
Greetings all

This is what happens when the police are told to stand down and let their city burn. I agree he should have not put himself in that position and he should not have been there. Being around firearms since I was five years old and having a carry concealed and just recently having that license may very well have saved my life First he did not transport a weapon across state lines. He crossed the state line without any weapons and got his AR-15 in Wisconsin from a friend. In Wisconsin he was completely within the law to have that rifle which is why the judge dropped that specific charge. Granted it was a poor decision on his part, but when the police are not going to protect you because they were told to stand down I think back to when I was his age and if I was watching my community burn and the police were doing nothing, I might have made the same mistake. I also agree we should not worship him as a hero but make no mistake that kid never fired a shot until his life was in danger. When someone is threatening your life you have every right to self defense.

What really pissed me off was how the mainstream media painted him as a white supremacist and had him tried and convicted months before the trial even began. All Propaganda. The kid made a mistake by even being there but when his life was in danger he had every right to defend himself.

Peace All
