Winston Churchill once said, “Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.” Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day and marks the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz—the concentration camp where over a million Jews were tortured and murdered. Hitler and the Nazis—or the National Socialist German Workers' Party—reprogrammed the people to see Jews as the enemy that needed to be exterminated. As a result, over 6 million Jews tragically lost their lives. It was pure evil. The Nazis demonized, dehumanized, and tried to destroy an entire people. The Holocaust stands as a reminder and warning of the capacity for evil in the human heart. With the rise of anti-Semitism in the world today, we must #NeverForget!
