First off it seems to imply there's some problem with him having a mainly female fan base. Like he's had to adjust his comedy to work for men. But why? Aren't women good enough for him? There are loads of performers who have a particular demographic as their fan base. I think that's especially true with comedy since it's a very personal thing. I could post my favourite comedians, but I suspect left-wing British humour wouldn't entertain mainly people on this forum. That's ok, it would be a very dull world if we all liked the same thing.

His joke about domestic violence was lazy and I can see why some people were offended. Would I tell that joke myself? No... partly the politics but mainly because I don't think it's funny. Should he have to apologise? I don't see why, I mean freedom of speech and all that. However, freedom of speech is not the same as freedom from the consequences of what you've said. So here the consequence is he has offended some of his fan base. What he does about that is up to him. I don't care for his apology, but that's his right (as is mine to think he isn't very funny).

My sister and i loved british humor. Still do.
