Dear Leftists - Matthew Crooks was one of yours.
In a recent post, I suggested that the man who attempted to assassinate President Trump was a leftist. Oh, the howling and braying from the usual Quora suspects was at an all time high. He was a psychopath they said. Didn’t I know he registered as a Republican they asked.
In this post, I will lay out a strong case for why there is no question that the shooter was in fact a leftist. I have no doubt that the leftists will reject my evidence because they literally cannot take responsibility for anything they do, but are all too happy to blame Republicans in the rare cases where someone on our side does something wrong.
First, the shooter DID donate to Act Blue. This is NOT a case of mistaken identity. He absolutely, 100% donated to Act Blue:

Many questions remain about the possible motive and political views of the 20-year-old who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

Republicans, and especially far right ones, don’t do this. Not even a little bit. They just don’t the same way antifa thugs and woke social justice warriors don’t donate to the Heritage Foundation. Not even small 15 dollar donations. It just doesn’t happen.
But the shooter was a registered Republican we’re told. He must have realized the error of his ways following that donation and switched parties, right? Nope. Democrats have been using a tactic for years now of registering as the other party in order to impact primaries. The objective is to help elect the least electable person during the primary in hopes that they lose in the general. Alternatively, Democrats vote in the primary to diminish the front runner like when they asked voters to vote for Nikki Haley in some of the primary races against Trump this year.
This type of crossover voting is common in open primary states where anyone can cast a vote in either Democrat or Republican primaries. In closed primary states however, the voter must register as a member of the party they vote for. Thomas Crooks lived in PA, which is a closed primary state. Thus, in order for him to mess around with the Republican Primary, he would have to register as a Republican. Note that this registration has no bearing on who the voter could vote for in the general election.

Frankly, his registering as a Republican might have been simple misdirection. Knowing every aspect of his life would be analyzed, registering as a Republican would shift blame away from the party he cared about - namely the Democrats.
Lots of reasons to be registered as a Republican that make more sense than the argument that a Republican hated Trump so much that he’d try to kill him - which makes NO sense.
A lot has been made of the fact that per a conversation with an aquaintance in school, the shooter didn’t like policians on both sides. The left siezed on this to say he hated all politicians. So what? I mean really - do you like any politician? I don’t. As much as I am a die hard Republican, the list of Republican politicians that I dislike is a mile long and as long as the list of Democrats I dislike.
But the other thing we learn from the aquaintance is that the shooter bought into the left wing trope that Donald Trump was a racist - a common left wing theme, and one that’s as false as the day is long:

In the video, the objections the shooter raised to his classmate’s support of Trump was totally taken from the left wing narrative. The classmate was stupid because he is Latino, and the shooter believed Trump is racist against latinos. This proves the shooter took his queues from the left wing narrative.
The same left wing narrative that up until the shooting referred to Trump as a danger to the very democracy that leftists mistakenly believe America is based on (America is a Republic, not a Democracy). Here’s Joe Biden in June 2024:
Did the shooter read the above tweet from Biden and did such a tweet push him to the edge and drive him to do the shooting? We don’t know for sure. But he didn’t have to be influenced by this tweet in particular. The list of leftists equating Trump to hitler or calling him a threat to Democracy is legion. The cannard is as common among the left as is breathing and that’s excluding all the dead left wing voters out there. In fact, per the below poll, 86% of Democrats see Trump as a threat to Democracy:

The 2024 presidential race remains a dead heat — and a majority of voters think Trump is a greater threat to democracy than Biden.

86% is an astounding number and proof that the claims that Trump is somehow a threat to the very way of life we hold dear are pervasive and effective at driving voters opinions.
If Trump were the second coming of Hitler as so many claim, if he was so destructive to America’s Democracy, wouldn’t it make sense to stop him? By ANY means necessary?
The final piece of evidence comes from the act itself. The shooter didn’t try to assassinate a Democrat. He literally tried to assassinate Donald J Trump. He came within an inch of killing our nominee for president in 2024. not the Democrat nominee, not just any politician, but Donald Trump. Going in he knew that chances were high that he would die attempting to do so. And yet he attempted to do so anyway.
Was the shooter mentally unwell? Absolutely. Anyone who tries to assassinate a politician has a screw loose. There are crazy people out there. That’s why responsible politicians avoid equating their opponents to Hitler and suggesting they will be responsible for the destruction of all that is good. But the Democrats were never responsible. Talk about assassinating Trump was common in left wing circles. It was fantasized about, from Kathy Griffin’s Trump Head photo to Johnny Depp to Madonna to Keith Olbermann to The View and on and on and on, the left routinely engaged in talk about Trump being a danger to everyone, and the need for someone to take him out.
Eventually, someone listening closely to them tried to do exactly that.
