I guess a lot of new members have been lurking awhile and not sure what info they are privy to but I for one think it would help the new member if they shared more info as then the Elders may steer them in the right direction. I Guess I am a bit tired of the Hi, this is my IOP handle and I am a new member. We all could offer a lot more help if they even gave up a little info. I know some folks are a bit timid as I am and just choose a simple Hi. Just something to think about? Best to you all-FF
Yes, we talk about this in staff room. And, then mods and/or i go back and ask questions.

But, some place must have closed. But we are never gonna become another drugbuyers. We are gonna stay small.

With the best vendors.

But, if this new people break rules or are deemed to be trouble, every mod and often i, we PM them. Then we warn. And, then we ban them.

We are the real pain patients. chronic anxiety patients. And we are not likely to share with a "Hi, i am ted from texas. so howdy" type of approach.

I am glad you agree. We are tough in the vetting members in arena. And we do the IP searches. Check other forums. We have a staff meeting whenever when a new member just strikes us as funny. Or a repeat client we tossed before for scamming.

This is not for fun. This is to have some quality of life for us.

Our rules and attitudes will not change, but you newer people, maybe your attitudes should change. These are not the olden days of yore. These are extraordinarily tough times.
I am glad to hear that C! You make a good point about us newer members. You run a nice Tight Ship and Proud to be on it! Best Wishes-FF
Hi fishfarmer, I dont think you are a newer member anymore my friend.

just saying.
(02-07-2018, 02:38 AM)Well, I am from Texas C., but my name is far from "Ted"  Ice Wizard can ask all of the questions he likes about the Republic (He\s far from "That boy ain't right in the head", much closer to "Why is that sagebrush blowing into town from the Southeast when it's past 5PM and ought be blowing in from the other way?  He'll catch you, with the help of the mods.  And trust me - You don't want to be caught '-)Charon Wrote: [ -> ]Yes, we talk about this in staff room.  And, then mods and/or i go back and ask questions.

el nCould be good if they post the age and the medical condition . With that two it will make a difference.
As a new member, and just to give my feedback and 2 cents as maybe a devil's advocate approach, I want to first of all say I appreciate all the help and fun I have talking to several people on the forum.  It is appreciated to speak with others who have similar conditions and need and get the help they deserve.  It's therapeutic.

That said, I have shared some personal information about myself through PM's and honestly, even publicly, enough to be tracked down without having to give my exact location and name.  I figured part of this was to stay incognito for protection.  But I do log in from my original IP so the mods can see that if they want and then they have the information that can pretty much locate a user if they want.  I know some use VPN's as even I have had mine on once or twice when I log in, but seeing as I'm here for BOTH the community and information, sharing too much about myself in a public thread seems, well, bothersome.

I think Charon is right in tracking IP's as the best way and if you see a user acting (sorry for the pun fishfarmer) "acting fishy," then perhaps more information about the person through a PM would be the right idea.  If the mods don't like an answer, boom, ban.  Like I said, I've shared with some people on here enough info, including Charon, that she could track me down to my front door if she tried.  So my two cents is to share that new member information through PM personally only unless the person feels comfortable.

Maybe I'm missing the bigger picture of competition/rivalry/espionage type stuff with other forums that I am completely unaware about, but wanted to chime in with my thoughts.  Hope they helped in some way.
Yeah masterthief agreed
I’m not sure FF was saying out urself but just something personal to get to know folks
Ya know
Maybe you like dogs
Or haves worked in certain fields or such and such

Agreed not wise to put out personal info out on the open forum
You make sense
Thanks for the post
in particular, whereas we don't trust elaborate sob stories in welcome threads, we do appreciatee those whom share their illnesses of the fact they have ptsd or anxiety or somthing that causes pain.

elsewise, they are more likely to be seen as a potential rec user. and rec users, with info in hand, BECOME BLABBERMOUTHS, when they have info. May be enthusiasm, but we don't care. Those of us genuinely ill are grateful and not really enthusiastic to receive what our doctors should still be scripting for all of us.

If you knew my character, masterthief, u would be at peace about me tracing you down. It aint gonna happen. I value privacy and I answer to a higher authority for how I treat the people whom have been put in my path.

But we do appreciate knowing that a person is also one of us with trauma or ptsd or pain or such. And, we can pray for them.
I agree Charon and meant no disrespect.  I was simply using that as an example of sharing without crossing the boundary of what one may consider uncomfortable.

I am lucky to have been accepted in to this wonderful community and agree completely that it should not become any of the other forums you are referring to.  Honestly, I truly don't know of any of the recreational forums as I have never sought them out.  This community just feels ... comfortable.  And I agree that whatever way to protect it should be honored.  Just wanted to give my personal feelings on the matter is all.  Thank you for allowing that.
