RE: Photographs Thread - Dentscllyfe - 02-07-2017 [attachment=2596] RE: Photographs Thread - Popster - 02-07-2017 Hi Dentscllyfe......thanks for the interest in this wonderful thread and being a new member. Just a quickie note.....the intent of this thread is "beauty" in all it's forms and individual interpretations. We have a thread for funny pictures called "humorous smilies"......also a wonderful thread. No harm, no foul.....just take a look through the many posts and you will get a feel for it.....look forward to your posts here
RE: Photographs Thread - Popster - 02-09-2017 On my last hike......I decided to go "off" trail and do some exploring. It was a bit more difficult than I expected, but I was rewarded as I stumbled onto an old logging camp.....perhaps 110 years old or more. No one's been there in a very long time and I am going back to do some still life photos. I was a bit worried about the time (getting dark) and since I didn't know exactly where I was, I decided to find my way out. As I followed the creek (very, very difficult....no trail) I came across the tools in the picture below. Someone, maybe 50-70 years ago, put these tools down under the protection of some trees, (probably with the intention of returning).......but they never returned for reasons I will never know.....nonetheless....it was a striking find.....a moment in time, frozen....and only the holes, rust and age of the tools and the tin bucket had changed the original moment they were put there......very fun and thoughtful for me. RE: Photographs Thread - Charon - 02-09-2017 what an intriguing find, popster. wonder what happened to the owners of tools? "Intriguing" is the perfect word......imagination and supposition are the only answers ![]() When I said the way out was difficult....I wasn't exaggerating....the creek is under these fallen trees.... RE: Photographs Thread - Linville - 02-09-2017 Wow Popster, cool story and find while hiking. I would be going back for pictures too. thank you for sharing this and including some pictures. =============
RE: Photographs Thread - Popster - 02-10-2017 The creek's bank caught my peripheral vision because something stood out from the ordinary (I don't mind bragging about my ability to catch the off color, off shape, off anything that doesn't fit in the forest). When I looked closer I saw seashells imbedded in the bank of the creek......showing how this entire area was once under the ocean......these fossils remain and were exposed by the recent torrential rains we have been having in Ca. Heres's a "rock" filled with seashells that was recently exposed in another nearby creek. Small enough for me to bring home and treasure.
