RE: MoneyGram/Western Union and tor - reilli - 04-30-2017

I ordered from a vendor listed here about a month ago using MG. They did require me to call MG to answer a bunch of questions - name of person I was sending to,, why I was sending, how I knew the person and for how long, when I last saw the person. The transaction went thru fine.

Ordered from a different vendor today - one of the most highly ranked vendors on here, different country of destination but a huge fave here. Used MG again & had to call to verify. Was on hold for 30 minutes before even talked to a person. Then they verified all my info, put me on old for several more minutes * came back & said their system was having issues, for me to call back tomorrow. I told the guy I had been on the phone for an hour waiting & of course he apologized but is this normal with MG or do I need to be worried?

I had a similar experience with WU several weeks ago after about 30 minutes of being interrogated they flat out refused to do the transfer. I waited a few days and went to a different location in the city I am in where the general population in that area matched receiver location and had no problem.

I too am starting to worry how much of a problem this is going to be but if I have to drive an extra few miles to avoid airport like security I will do it

Fury - I called back today and answered all of their questions and they denied the transfer, said I had to go to a physical location so I guess I will be doing that from now on. I'm spoiled by my old vendor accepting credit cards. On my way out to the store now.

Hey reilli, Hate to have to see you go through this but I know how you feel and I am afraid this is going to become more of an issue. I won't do anything electronic anymore. I live in a diverse enough city that I still try and vary physical locations I go to to send from an area that matches (or close as possible) the receivers location. Pain in the azz but whatcha gonna do

Peace All

Do the vendors know you used WU online when they asked you not to do so?

ps: the question is to anyone that can help
Thanks in advance.

I actually had WU, my go-to, cancel an order I placed due to it being in a certain city. I was shocked, as I live in a very diverse community with people who surely are from there and send money to family. Has anyone else had this happen? Is MG better?

Agree-I have found money tranfers far easier in certain parts of the city to certain parts of the world.  Once used MG close to work and it was a clusterf@ck.

I ended up going to Walmart (I despise them) and it was easy.

Yea I have used Walmart as well and usually good choice since employees seem to care less.
