RE: My best friend died this weekend - BoomerB - 02-18-2016 Jon was 33. I knew him 25 years. There were 3 of us, the 3 stooges. 1 started showing major psych issues and either pulled the plug himself or od'd. Over his first piece of nook. One of those psych signals i mentioned was his total belief that if this girl messed around, he would kill the guy and it would have been worth it. So in a way i almost feel better he died when he did because there would have been much mental anguish for him and his fam. His best friend was Jon, our recent departure. They went to catholic grade school. We all meshed pretty well, jon was popular i was like 2nd lowest on school foodchain but that didn't matter. We set up a caper to steal weed from a locker i surreptitiously copped the combo to- jon was long range lookout chris watching the rear. Typing it i see that was the moment we 3 became inseparable. They introduced me to mischief (i was grounded previous 12 yrs) and i turned them on to drugs. This was after i saw fear and loathing movie , which altered my rule on drugs. Before anything natural was groovy, chemicals were not. Old hunter s at age 16 is a bad combo Im 32, Jon was a healthy weight lifting 33. We were the 3 stooges, but one stooge exited in 04. Either accidentally od'd or killed himself over 1st piece of nook. That was chris, and he was showing signs of mental breakdown. He logically explained to me how it would be totally worth it to spend life in jail for the satisfaction of killing this real or imagined cheater... My assessment is if he kept going it was down a dark mental path. But Jon was my real running partner. We had to stop telling ppl what and how many drugs we were doing because no one believed us. He was the 1st to clean up and go methadone. He never sold a bottle or skipped a dose in 10 yrs, decides hes gonna kick methadone usin subox. For me i went 120mg meth to 30 over a year, then took 1mg sub 6 weeks- i was great for 3 wks then sick a year. Ev day wake up saying "this has gotta be the last day" and still bein sick, giving in and going back to The Program was my only option to keep employed. But jon never fudged his med, although a family move necessitated a removal from meth. So he did a sub detox 6 month program ended 3 weeks ago. Friday he texts "gonna visit the area see whats going on". At this point i got profane, not abt him using but buggin me over it. Pardon roa/ sch 1 discussion, edit if u see fit. He says fri its real good he sniffed a few bags. I GUARANTEE the next morning he bought a mosquito nest (pack o needles) went back and shot more than he could handle. A 30$ bundle, killed the guy who one birthday lent his car to the dealer and got us a motel with 2 floozies and a half oz of H out on the table, help yourself. I told him my theory- methadone severely limits u, but its a double safety net- layer 1 no w/d, layer 2 it blocks the rush of iv opiates. He wanted off though, worst possible scenario for me to be right about smthn RE: My best friend died this weekend - IceWizard - 02-18-2016 Boomer... What can I possibly say that has not been said... Myself have lost quite a few friends thru the years to drugs and "accidents" as well... They are never easy on the ones left behind.. Before I used anything (other than weed) my best friend from when I can even remember died at 17... We were both 17 .... We lived 2 houses apart and were like brothers (I have sisters)... That sunny day we had stopped by my house, picked up a couple-0-joints and took off... About a half mile from the house, a mosquitohawk hit his face (I had a 3ft sissybar up my back) .. As he turned to me an said,"Look at the size of this MF'r", I saw the curb getting closer... We hit... He leaned the Harley to the side and shot the gas to it.. It took me off .. Outta that sissybar... Throwing him over the handlebars and face planting in the ground... When I finished rolling, I got up and went to where he was ... He was crossing his legs and straining... Then the blood came frome his nose... I was freaking... A passerby called an ambulance... He died 55 minutes later... I still miss Jesse... I still communicate with his sister and mother as they were so close to me... To this day, I still wonder why him and not me... He was the better one... That was in 72 and it still seems like yesterday... Sorry this took me awhile to write... It still hurts so bad... I think I know how you feel and it's awful... I do hurt for you Boomer... Ice Sorry to ramble... I appoligize Boomer ... I am sorry for your loss... Ice RE: My best friend died this weekend - BoomerB - 02-18-2016 No apologies needed ice- coming here and rambling the whole legend of the 3 stooges was helpful and i'd encourage anyone to pop in and vent. RE: My best friend died this weekend - BoomerB - 02-24-2016 Same to you jc. Very supportive bunch here. RE: My best friend died this weekend - Spanky - 02-25-2016 Boomer, Very sorry to hear of your loss. Lost my best friend about 10 years ago when he veered off a country road, down steep road side gully, and out the front window. Smart guy, college teacher, but always objected to wearing a seat belt. I still have a lpic of him mounted on my small RV wall. Time has been the best medicine, but he still rides with me and I'm sure your friend will be always riding with you. Spanky RE: My best friend died this weekend - BoomerB - 02-25-2016 Thanks spanky (02-25-2016, 12:01 PM)BoomerB Wrote: Thanks spanky, my best friends are still practicing equestrians so i don't see them much. This has proven to be a good place to be for me.  I was forced to take a good look at my own life and make some changes for the better. Its like a med friendly NA meeting with people who are interesting instead of competing for the most outrageous war story. RE: My best friend died this weekend - Mack30 - 02-29-2016 Sorry to hear that Boomer :-( RE: My best friend died this weekend - Charon - 02-29-2016 Although Boomer is no longer with us, I am in email with him every other day. I am sure he would be thankful to hear ur condolences. (I shall pass them on.) |
