RE: Still kickin' - Charon - 04-17-2016 I am so sorry, Cricket, that it has come to this.  You will be able to find a decent place.  Make the move. And, enjoy all life again.  Good luck.  Keeping you in prayer. (Still here for you, Cricket.  I know change just sucks.) All of this packing by myself is so hard. I try to do something each day, but when the pain starts I have to stop. This will take me forever like this. I have a friend that said she would come help me sort thru things and do a garage sale, but waiting to hear when she can come. I'll just keep pluggin' along as much as I can. It's scary not knowing where I'll end up. Can't find a new place until I sell this one, but I have soooo much to do before that can happen. This beat up old body can't handle this crap. I should go plant myself on the lawn of the nursing home that's caused this problem LOL. It's gonna be hard to find a place to rent that will allow my 4 pups, IF I can't find something I can afford to buy. Where I go, my pups go too. Even if it's having to live in my car UGH! They are all I have left and I'm not giving them up for ANYTHING! Hopefully things will get going soon before the stress kills me. RE: Still kickin' - Spanky - 04-18-2016 Best Thoughts for you Cricket, I know you've withstood bad weather, and you'll weather this. Do what you can, "peck away" as Popster says. Hope things get a bit settled for you soon. Spanky RE: Still kickin' - Revolution - 04-18-2016 Cricket, keep chirping, and don't worry. Things have a way of working out. If you are not up to a garage sale, perhaps an estate sale? They do all the work of ridding you of the stuff you don't want over a weekend, and collect a portion of your proceeds as payment. It's not for everyone, but it's just an idea. You spend half your life collecting stuff, and the other half ridding yourself of it. You are in my thoughts. RE: Still kickin' - Linville - 04-19-2016 Hey Cricket still hoping that you can chip away at things and feel good about it. Then you can chirp some amnd let us know hows it going.. Keep Being careful doing all that ..... Excuse my French, but my azz HURTS. I sat on the hard floor all morning cleaning out the bottom of a couple of closets and it really did a number on my tail bone. Very painful indeed. What's best for this? Heat or cold. So glad nobody was here to film me getting up. That would have been a sight to see. LOL Still goin' at it and will be for quite awhile. I know I'm getting things done, but it doesn't look like I'm getting very far. I never realized how much crap mom and I had accumulated over the yrs. WOW Have a good night guys. Cricket RE: Still kickin' - Rumor - 04-19-2016 I am sorry you have to go through this, too, Cricket. But I do like the pillow under the Azz idea that FP suggested. In addition to estate sales people, there are professional organizers. They make like 3-4 piles. Keep, trash and sell or donate. As usual everything costs money, but it might be worth it to your health. When my mom died, I didn't realize how much stuff she had either. But, at least there were my little brother, his wife and a friend to help. The trash and donate piles were the easiest. Now I have a bunch of boxes in my home office because we thought they might have value. I have a feeling, not so much, but they are still taking up lots of space. I wish those people from that show on PBS would just show up at my house one weekend and tell me if there is anything of value. Took me a while, but I mean Antiques Roadshow. As a result of that experience, I have been getting rid of my own stuff to the Goodwill or where I work (non-profit), trying to help others and taking it off my taxes, as well. I'm sure the whole board would rent a bus, one weekend and help you out, if we weren't such a mess ourselves. We have a Goodwill with a drive through in our neighborhood. When they see me drive up, they get the helpers and unload my car for me, and get my receipt ready. I believe that there is a veterans charity that will come to your home and pick up donations. At work we used 1-800-junk, because that is what we had and you can just point and have the hunky guys do all the work while you point. That they do charge for that but we filled up several trucks of junk. Just remember we are here in spirit and hoping for the best for you and the pups. And if you do have pain, remember R.I.C.E. Rest. Ice. Compression. Elevation. Your friend, Rumor. RE: Still kickin' - Cricket - 04-20-2016 (04-19-2016, 10:58 PM)Rumor Wrote: I am sorry you have to go through this, too, Cricket. Won't forget it next time. I know I could donate a ton and make it a bit easier on myself, but I really need to put stuff in a garage sale. More work I know, but I really need to try and get some money to help with my financial meltdown. A few friends and neighbors offered me help, so maybe it can get moving faster. I HOPE. BTW, tail is better today, but still pretty sore. Guess I'd better go sit on an ice cube. Thanks for the helpful hints. It will get done, just gonna take time. Thanks guys. Have a great day tomorrow. If you have nothing better to do, come on down and lend a hand. I'll feed ya a good Cajun feast but I'll have to order it since I can't cook worth a darn. LOL Later folks Cricket RE: Still kickin' - Charon - 04-20-2016 hey, cricket. just checking on u. don't want to miss u when u come on at nite. hang in there for us. you and your puppies will do this. maybe u can take help as everyone suggested. ok, just letting you know we all care about u. about how u r doing.
