Along the lines of the guy helping the sloth, here's a man helping a poor skunk with his head stuck in a can.

‘Welcome Home’-- The Gary Sinise Foundation Builds New Home for Wounded Veteran

The Gary Sinise Foundation has built another special home for a wounded veteran.

The foundation, founded by actor Gary Sinise, builds special “smart homes,” designed to make tasks easier for war veterans who may have physical challenges due to injury.

The foundation has now built 32 homes.
The latest, which opened January 19,  was designed for Marine Cpl. Garrett Jones.

As reported by fredericksburg.com, Cpl. Jones lost his left leg in Iraq in 2007 after stepping on an improvised explosive device.
He went through 20 surgeries in a month, then redeployed to Afghanistan as an intelligence analyst less than a year later.

“That deployment, as bloody as it was, was also a period of healing for me,” Jones said. “I learned so much about myself and learned you really can overcome any obstacle no matter how challenging.”

After returning home and retiring from the military, Jones and his family moved to Stafford, Virginia, where their new home was built.

Bob Pence, a board member for the Gary Sinise Foundation, read a letter from Sinise during the ceremony.

“While we can never truly repay the debt we owe Garrett, we can strive to show him and his brothers and sisters in arms that we do not forget or take their service for granted, expressing our appreciation and gratitude whenever and wherever possible,” Sinise wrote.

“This means supporting our military service members and their families before, during and after the battle,” the letter from Sinise continued.

“For all they have done and have given, they ask so little in return.

Knowing they are honored and their sacrifice is appreciated can make a world of difference.”
