Couple images from latest imaging setup.

First shot is a 2 panel mosaic testing image flatness or field curvature. I was unable to complete this target so displaying Hydrogen data only. All images shown previously were imaged in the Hydrogen, Oxygen and sulfur emission lines. Need at least 2 lines to create a color image. Will have to wait till next year to finish this one.

Second shot is a section of the Pelican Nebula at the scopes native field of view.

Goal is to shoot multi panel mosaics, 2,4,6,8,10 etc. to create ultra wide field high rez images.  Fingers crossed.

Seemingly endless cloudy weather here was able to capture 4 hrs exposure on this target. 8 would be better.

Target Class: Planetary Nebula
Name: Dumbbell Nebula

A star much like our sun, lost it's mass to the point gravity could no longer exert enough force to hold it together. The core is in there somewhere. A white Dwarf, About the size of Earth.

Here's a shot of what is known as the Elephant Trunk Nebula. I've previously posted non color Hydrogen emission data but I was able to eventually gather Oxygen and Sulfur emissions so here's a color image.

The Elephant trunk is located in our galaxy 2400 light years away from Earth. There's several small young (100,000 yrs old) stars hidden inside the trunk. Three other stars have cleared a hole in the top portion of the nebula giving the appearance of a snout. The Trunk is 20 light years in length.
