Back in the late 90's I parked near the border in AZ and then walked across I came back with a small quantity of one item and just walked through the gates. That was many years ago and I don't know how it is. Be careful. I think you would be safe with a small amount but I would listen to the people in the forum that have been recently.

Good luck and regards
Eddie

Good for holding stuff in place! Boxers will not work! I think you missed my point!

Excellent advice solarpunch! Luckily I have friends who live down there and are connected. Plus, it's not illegal in Mexico, only when crossing back into the US. Always fun to get a nice hotel (very nice for $40) Senoritas extra, for a few days, get your party on down there for cheap and exit back hungover and high as a cloud!
Peace!

I'm going on a cruise that will dock there for a day. Is it easy to buy mags there without a subscription? I've been hearing different stories regarding Mexico. Some people say you need a subscription from Mexico for mags. Others say you can't use your USA subscription there. And I've also was told I don't need a subscription. Just ask for the mags I'm interested in & if they have it, they'll give it to me. Someone please let me know if I can buy my magazines with no problem. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm... so i've been reading up on a lot of different experiences on bring back scripts from mexico. Seems like CA side is pretty strict, does anyone have more recent experiences with AZ? I was planning to go to lake havasu for some fun and am debating on whether I should visit south of the border as well.

I used to make many trips to TJ when I lived in SoCal. Things changed after 9/11. Prior to 2001, the street in San Ysidro used to be littered with crushed oxy boxes from the many travelers who had brought them back through the gate without problems.
A few years ago I made the mistake of 'declaring' my trams and they were promptly confiscated and I was put on the search and detain list so next time I went I was detained again (they found nothing at that time). After that second incident I wrote a clear and well-composed letter to DHS explaining my chronic pain problem, my lack of insurance, and lo and behold, on the 3rd try (a couple more months later) I was no longer on the search and detain list. It's probably a miracle or dumb luck that someone read my letter and had the compassion to take me off the list, or perhaps it was temporary to begin with.
