I went to an orthopedic specialist just yesterday for ongoing, severe knee/leg pain. He did all the usual things: steroids and anti-inflammatories, which I sure hope will work. I'm skeptical, at best. He stated he would not prescribe anything stronger. So if this doesn't work out, I'll follow your suggestion. RE: Face to face with pain Dr - folken - 02-20-2019 Yeah Pain Clinics can be good. And most countries have them now so the GP can offload it and it seems a better choice to me. << made an appointment myself for my sciatica >> My mom has bad pain in her hips for years and was dealing with her GP with no success. I remember her crying it was so bad. She thought it was arthritis but the person at the pain clinic examined her and said she thought she had bursitis << not sure what the diff is >> Anyhow, my mom said she gave her a cortisone shot and it was like instant relief...………. So now she goes back to the clinic whenever it flares up again for another shot. A Pain Clinic feel good story...…………………………..Folken

No, I'm just giving you pointers that are sure to help, even if you can't stay off your knees or stop working for three days. Now, this post is already very long and I have plenty more to say on the subject of joint pain. I'll get back lsoon with a new breathtaking episode of Melusine's Magic.
RE: Face to face with pain Dr - Sudsy - 04-02-2019 Thanks for the post Melusine lots of good tips. Sudsy RE: Face to face with pain Dr - RHR17 - 01-31-2020 In Colorado, it’s against the law to provide PM for back pain. Or at least that’s what my Hospitalist said when I was in ICU. Due to my job, (retired now) I worked with politicians for almost 20 years. I have little respect for them, stories like the ones I have experienced and you all have lived take that “ little respect “ away entirely. I am not sure It's exactly against the law but primary care providers are all scared to pull out the pad and write a pain medication script. I had back problems for years and my orthopedic surgeon told me I was "engaging in drug seeking behavior" I told him damn right I wanted something for the pain, I was taking prescribed opioid pain meds for more than 2 years, OMG it wa horrible. The pain, the depression and the constipation. Finally I found a good surgeon who operated on me and after 2 months I was pain free, totally. I was one of those success stories I suppose, I have heard all those stories about surgeries gone wrong and people ending up in worse shape and in worse pain that when they started. I haven't had a pain pill in several years, wouldn't want one, wasn't "hooked" or addicted just in real horrible pain. Yes there are addicts and those who are only seeking to get high but it seems that the medical profession has been scared by the DEA, and it is a shame. RE: Face to face with pain Dr - Yorkie - 08-17-2020 In the Uk i found it almost impossible to get a NHS Dr to prescribe benz nowadays, though the law don't seem to care about them at all anymore. It seems like they just want you to buy them on the blackmarket. Has anyone tried paying to go to a private Dr? |
