Some have been cut off. With little notice. Its become the Wild West out there, finding a good, decent doctor whose hands are not tied by fear of his license being removed.

Treasure him.

Happened to me cut off low dose and no taper.  Vicious. Be good and fair with the few out there who still help they are rare.

I was stranded for months before I could even get an appointment with new person.

RE: Vicodin/Percs? - Charon - 05-15-2017

well, big hint: NY has gone insane. Absolutely bonkers. My medical doctor sister stopped running hospitals as she could not treat her patients in the manner she felt she had to.

But, NY passed a law that no PKs can be given in emergency room. There must be some exceptions to this rule or litigation will follow. Or for dental work unless its serious surgery.

I have years of records, and had wonderful doctors whom all lost their ability or will to treat patients. So, I would avoid NY if i were you. When i first got permanent disability, seven yrs ago, for chronic pain cuz no doctor will say its ms, lupus or parkinson. They like to say its all, but let say chronic pain. and PTSD.

Ny was so nice, when i called disability about pain management, i was treated like a buffoon. A kindly sounding woman told me we shall bring medicine right to your home. But, its methadone. (Not gonna happen until end stage and even then, ah, not for me.) And, the glitch is, that i have to die within three months or go off cold turkey. And i know it killed the alice in chains bassist. It was a big scandal in NY. Most of the people whom took the med? They lived and had to do withdrawal.

Avoid the Big Apple. Unless u have the monies of a donald trump, u can no longer get any sort of normal care here. The drug of choice is ibuprophen 800 mg. Dentists are afraid to give nitrous oxide or even antibiotics.

I now like to say: New York. The city where no one sleeps. Cuz they are in far too much pain all the time.

Glad to hear u found someone. Its true, treasure them.

Maybe it's just my personal opinion/experience, but I think it is very difficult to find what you're looking for here or anywhere online TBH. Good luck though!

Yep, the SO had some dental surgery a couple of weeks ago & got only Ibuprofen & Tylenol 3 in TX.

Its getting ridiculous that people that need medication cant get what they need because of people that are irresponsible. My doctor has cut mine back twice now, luckily we have people here that help with that!

Taking out wisdom teeth is a painful recovery, I recall getting demerol, but that was way before all of the anti-pain med frenzy by the government.  A friend of mine who is a Dr and whom I respect very much put it to me this way, Strong opiates relieve pain, what the government and the medical establishment won't  say is that that includes emotional and psychological pain which is pervasive and because illicit opiates of one for or another have become plentiful and cheap, their  abuse is widespread.  It has little or nothing to do with responsible medical pain management with controlled substances.
