Interesting.
A recent, first-time order I placed flew through the system until it hit my city and is now marked as "undeliverable". The vendor has a great reputation and has assured me the address was correct. Could it be a worker became curious of the country of origin and took it and marked it as undeliverable? Or simply a f' up with the system?
Either way, trying to remain patient and hope I can sort this out. Never had this happen to me in the 10 years I've been using IOPs from all over the world...

Texaschemist, this just happened as well where it was marked undeliverable and then no more than 15 minitess later it arrives. Very strange. I wouldn't be to concerned if I were you.

reading first post this wouldnt even work in small country,from the article i get that packages would need to be labeled in some way,how about millions giftcards daily,such approach does little,anyway it only shows how people in goverment are detached,give any person in congress to work a day in post office ,then ask do they want to scan each letter that enters the country.

Texas Chemist it happened to me years ago, I am not in US but in EU so I overcome my fear and went to the post office search for hours and finally found my parcel. Maybe I was desperate to have it, or very lucky but later my regular postman said it was a mistake of a new worker there who had no clue for my street name . I was lucky I had no other problems when I think of it today. I hope you find out soon where the mistake is.

The focus will likely be on the interdiction of parcels of international origin which enter the USPS system. Where would the $$ come from in order to support such a program when the current administration implements their promised massive tax cuts? Blackbird, I believe you're correct in that the USPS just doesn't have the resources to fund such a wasteful project. I just read an article in 'Change.Org' stating that the USPS is in serious debt already. They've had to make many drastic cuts. Just to name a few are the consolidating of post offices and sorting centers, laying off of staff, etc. and those types of cost cutting are just the tip of the iceberg. The postal Governor left his post late last year and they have no one in line for the position so for he time being they don't even have a directing BOARD! They have stopped scanning mail coming into the US from most other countries which I think is one of the many ways they are trying to cut costs although their explanation doesn't come right out and claim a relationship to the debt issue. So, at least until they get their act together I can't possibly imagine them taking on such a huge financial burden. In the seemingly impossible event that the legislation passes ???, and without a hefty injection from say, Uncle W. Buffet, the US may have to say goodbye to it's long standing mail service which we all love to hate. Seriously though, without adding to the burden, the USPS seems to be a slowly sinking ship to be watched closely at this point.

That is why many of us wait to receive first order before we place another, no matter how hard it is for us.
Good luck! This does not mean you are being watched. It is also luck of the draw.
But, as Fire mentioned, just chill out in re: ordering until u receive first package or two.
You will be safer and we shall feel safer for you.
That's sage advice, Charon. But in the event you really cannot wait it out then use a vendor from a different origin and have order sent to a trustful friend.

Did someone have information, it the technology today allows to scan for some specific molecules without opening a package? If some kind of this scanner exists or will be developed, there will be no chance to get around it, if it will be used on a large scale.
Dont be suspicious, order a lot of cheap stuff from other countries, so the goods you need will be lost in the pile of mail you get...
What a simple yet plausible action to take! Oh no, I hate it when a good idea suddenly turns around on me in my mind. I'm thinking perhaps that might actually work against us if we become flagged due to an over abundance of overseas mail deliveries. I have to think about this a bit longer. LOL

Usps does selective seizures. I honestly have seen no rhyme or reason for half the LL's I've had had friends get. Just I the past 3 months 2 friends have gotten two orders intercepted and gotten love letters in their place. All well other including myself have received our orders from the same vendors and no tangible interruptions. So to recap they placed one order got an LL. Placed a second or third order while waiting and got their items. Then on the reships got a second LL. I personally have never had a an LL and I have a theory that it has to do with sender and reciever addresses. You know they must have some system to flag an address on both ends. Plus the ISC locations have been getting swapped around lately also. Won't get into to much detail but my last orders went through two different ISC facilities but made it to me in record time. Fingers crossed that it stays the same from here on out. May the odds forever be in your favor.

Patience and being smart are key. Haven't noticed any difference in magazines. If anything it's much better than a year ago. Always have a supply. I'll repeat, always have a supply if you need something.

It seems there are much less sources these days and we don't know every country that is being watched. That what's worrying me. I also don't like the fact that international packs are not tracked once they come into US now. It makes me really uneasy especially since I am one of the people that are disabled and live on such as small income that if a pack doesn't show up I can't just place ANOTHER ORDER SO SIMPLY LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO DO. (sorry for caps) I remember a time when there were so many places to order from and cheap that I never worried at all. I was on first name basis with many people and they were so honest. The good old days!

I like to alternate places I order from. This way if one area gets hot, then I know to look to another area until things calm down. I understand what you're saying lap1026, there are many people who can't afford to order large amounts or place multiple orders at one time. I try to stick to trusted vendors in my price range, and spread it out thru different vendors in dif areas. When I do have some extra to spend I stock up whenever possible.
You're right source numbers have dwindled from what they once were, but keep at it and you should find the right place for you. Best thing to do is keep up with the threads of the vendors you use to see how the mail is flowing when it's time to order. Best of luck to you,

Unlike UPS or FedEx, the U.S. Postal Service doesn't require advance electronic customs data for "the vast majority of mail entering the United States," according to a statement announcing the bill. "Because of the volume of mail, Customs and Border Protection cannot manually scan these packages and stop illicit goods from crossing our borders."
The bill would require postal shipments from foreign countries to provide electronic advance data such as who and where the package is from, where it is going and what is in it. The data must be provided before the shipments cross the border into the U.S.
All my shipments have been EMS, a private service. Is this a private service and exempt? Just want to get any ideas on this.
Laws like these are proposed daily and make it into news bylines. Congress people usually just talk about it to appease interest groups or individuals with no real power. It like a PR thing to make everyone think they care.
Truth told, those who are making money off of contraband are much more powerful and I doubt a law like this will even make it through a congressional committee, especially with Republicans in charge as they hate regulation that costs big business money.
