This is what I got prescribed to replace PK for my lower back. I don't feel any relief at all. I understand that the doses can be really high and mine is not that, so maybe it helps with those type doses, but I've noticed nothing. Undecided

I had a interesting experience with this as well and no it doesn't work for pain... I've noticed this is a go to lot of pain management providers- in conjunction with everything else they put you on... I was told 1800 ml daily is the "therapeutic" dose... my pupil were dilated and it actually enhanced my muscle relaxers... I took myself off it... it took 3 days to be able to sleep and I felt like I may end up in a mental ward... it's not one to play with, it's VERY hard to come off cold turkey!

Sorry to hear that gabapentin isn't helping. It's really only been shown to be effective for neuropathic pain, so it's unfortunate that it's being prescribed as a "replacement" for PKs.

The only thing that it helps with a tiny bit is migraines. If I'm already at the nose bleed and blah stage, then forget it. It's supposed to help with seizures. Brain and skull injuries SUCK!

I was prescribed this for low back pain as well. It didn’t work, so my dr just kept upping the dose. It still did nothing for the pain, but I got to enjoy lots of fun extras, like double vision, ticks in the muscles of my eyes, lethargy more!

I weaned off of it slowly, so I didn’t suffer much from withdrawal. Frankly, the side effects were so bad wd would have been better in comparison! If this stuff works & you can tolerate it, great, but I agree with most posters, it’s not something to mess around with.

gabap ntnn is the worst.
i don't think i have really heard anyone say it works for pain.
the only thing it does is knock you out if you take enough.
3,200mg my friend was on a day. 800mg x4
he'd take them all at once and be in the z0ne like some ive seen on things 0pi @tes.
I was on it for awhile and hated what it did to my thinking. it slowed it way down, so i am happy to be off them!

I'm glad everyone is sharing their stories... I really wish I knew then what I know now... I would have never touched the stuff

What's your daily dose at?
Is it working well enough to stay on?
If not start weening off now before you get on the high doses.
If already on high dose you can still do it!
Best of luck!!

I’m currently weaning down from 1800mg/day due to it really making me feel dumbed down and all of the other fun side effects others have described. Gabapentin is helpful to an extent for my anxiety/panic attacks which is what I take it for but the side effects get to be too much in my opinion.

RE: gabapentin - UserTaken1 - 11-02-2018

Skipper did you get the dumbed down feeling? Or trouble tapering? Withdrawals are horrible even tapering. Anxiety and such. I feel like they disinhibit me to much to be a decent med
