RE: Ambien (zolpidem) - kkaschke - 02-01-2018

Insomnia is cruel. I’ve dealt with it for over a decade. Did the sleep study and it was inconclusive. What sucks is that women can no longer be prescribed the 10mg dose.

Insomnia is a btch. Been suffering for almost 5 years. I’m a woman and I get 10mg from my dr.  Why can’t you  get 10mg?  I’ve tried to take half but it does nothing for me.

interesting.  the one time i asked my dr if she could increase, she looked at me as if i had killed someone. now after reading people say that their's was cut in half, i don't want to rock the boat.

RE: Ambien (zolpidem) - yellowdog - 02-01-2018

Zoplidem is a wonder drug if used a few times a week.

I find if I take it too often it becomes less effective

I learnt the hard way to only take it when I am in bed, as before I used to wake up ti discover I had sent text and eaten food etc.

Insomnia is something I really struggle with

In the UK, they only give out Zopliclone which is weaker than ambien. and it is really hard to get.

Zopliclone is now a class C drug but IMO it has no abuse potential it just helps sleep

As far as brands I find the generic indian ones do not work as well as say Mylan or the the serb ones.

RE: Ambien (zolpidem) - maeve - 02-03-2018

I take 10mg as well, I highly doubt 5mg would really do anything for me either and I am a pretty petite gal.  Trying to switch anyone already taking 10mg is just not really an effective idea.  If 10mg is already working for a person, why try to change it and fix something that isn't broken?  If someone is going to try it for the first time, it would be much more reasonable to try to start them with the 5mg and increase it then if it doesn't work.

I totally agree. You hook someone on a certain dose that works for them. Then you want to reduce Just as the body is getting used to it. I’ve pretty much resigned to believe I will always need help w my insomnia. Which is why I’m happy I found this site and read many engaging stories of people just like me trying to get through the day. It’s taking me a while to get to 50 posts but ok trying. I def read more than I post.

RE: Ambien (zolpidem) - Scottfree - 07-15-2018

This thread has a lot of quality information and experiences I wasn’t aware of. I have noticed over the years with zolpidem I thought my pharmacy gave me a “bad batch”. But realizing it could just be me adapting.
Howerfer, I will say I have another member in the household who’s prescribed from the same pharmacy and we generally agree when that months batch is bad or good.
So my experience with vendors isn’t going so well as quite a few are experiencing mailing issues.

RE: Ambien (zolpidem) - anxietyguy - 07-16-2018

Great drug, but I build tolerance ( if I use it every night ) in around 7-10 days . The CR version made me feel tired next day.
But, so far, is the best drug I have tried for insomnia ( including midazolam, zopiclone, eszopiclone , etc )
