I play guitar, very badly. I learned from a book by Joe Bouchard of Blue Oyster Cult. I took a music theory class i had no business being in and recorded a cheesy song consisting of a few metal riffs

doesn't get any more honest than this lol..Hey listen whether its a few metal riffs or a slew of other instruments....a song is a song!

yeah,use cubase and Reason rewired,play bass a bit,though my old bass combo amp is tempremental,put bass through a little reverb to make it boom deep,bass is the king of all instruments.
Only trouble is,i never finish anything on cubase or reason but time flies by while having fun or trying to deal with midi problems lol.

A friend is trying to actually make music and when attempting to use my mic and his PC to record he get's his vocal's as feedback in the headphones. Â Any way to eliminate this? Â Or do I need to spend the money and get different equipment for this kind of thing? Â If so what do I need to purchase to make this happen? (I'm guessing a Preamp-mic power, an XLR condenser mic, but I don't know what else or even a good brand)

Never tried recording anything with headphones on,i only have a cheap karioki mic taped to a chair leg next to my bass amp.it goes into a outboard soundcard where it gets recorded,is it just your onboard soundcard you are using?Never heard of this before,theres a lot of music production forums these days,maybe google your problem and see what comes up?

My friend having the issue is using an internal computer sound card for his headphones. The Blue condenser mic is USB so it does it's own sound processing (not handled by the sound card). Recording is handled by software (don't remember which) on his PC.
I have been googling trying to find an answer for him, with no luck so far. Sounds like you're using a dynamic mic and external sound recorder (correct me if I'm wrong please) and that sounds so much simpler. Might have to just pick up an external sound recorder for him, or maybe we need to use different recording software?

@anxiety_sucks I've been looking at ableton live controllers, interested in using ableton to make my own beats (I hope this is something it can do well). I don't have any experience with ableton live though. Have you used it before, and if so is it the correct program to invest in for beat making? Hope you can shed some light for me before I blow dinero on equipment. Thanks A_S!
If you had ableton you could record into that,but you really need a decent outboard soundcard,dont know if anyone uses a pci soundcard these days its all usb or firewire.
ableton will be great for making your beats.
There is a lot of free recording software around these days,musicradar dot com will have a list of free stuff,kvr is also a good place to look,theres tons of free software synths,drum machines and every type of fx you could think of around these days.
One thing i use at this pc and not the music pc is an audio editor called audacity,its free,i use it to record stuff online mainly,handy for sampling plus you can edit with it,cut out bits you don't want etc.
You'll find a ton of tutorials about beat making with ableton online,websites,forums and youtube to help you,i learned myself 20 years ago via various magazines,i was still using the same software for years mainly cubase vst,i finally upgraded about 2 years ago to more modern version and basically am still learning all over again.
