New opioid legislation being signed today - Mugen - 10-24-2018 From a news article: "The wide-ranging legislation expands and reauthorizes an array of programs aimed at treatment and prevention, from finding new, less addictive drugs for pain management to expanding access to treatment for substance abuse disorders. The measure also requires the US Postal Service to screen packages for deadly fentanyl from overseas; aims to prevent "doctor-shopping" by improving state prescription drug monitoring; and helps pregnant mothers struggling with addiction and their babies who go through opioid withdrawal." I wonder how this will affect all things. RE: New opioid legislation being signed today - Mr. HIND - 10-24-2018 Looks like they're aiming for advanced warning system for international shipments. Some quotes: "My administration has also launched an unprecedented effort to target drug dealers, traffickers and smuggler," Trump said. "We are shutting down online networks, cracking down on international shipments and going after foreign traffickers like never before." "The measure mandates advance electronic data on all international packages, including those delivered by the Postal Service, and set deadlines for the screening to be put into place by the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and the Postal Service." Older article: For nearly a year, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and a team of investigators have tracked the deadly, door-to-door delivery of opioids. Like most Republicans, Portman supports Mr. Trump's push for a border wall. But after seeing how easy it can be to order and receive illegal opioids, he thinks the better place to make a stand against opioids is the mailbox "The problem is the P.O. Box in America that gets a shipment through our postal service straight from China," "There is no requirement for any electronic data in advance to be able to tip off law enforcement" RE: New opioid legislation being signed today - Mugen - 10-24-2018 ..... yikes. RE: New opioid legislation being signed today - Salty - 10-25-2018 Yeah I've heard rumors of a big changes with regard to scanning and such with international packages being processed through customs beginning in November Guess we will see if it's affective.
RE: New opioid legislation being signed today - tiggmill - 10-28-2018 I read about that too. Canada and parts of Europe are prescribing museums and exercise instead of meds. Love both of them, but for heaven's sake, some people can't do either!!! |
