WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - folken - 03-28-2019 Detroit — A Mexican citizen facing life in prison for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 6 kilos of cocaine and heroin into Detroit has absconded after a Wayne County visiting magistrate freed him on $200 bond. Jose Antonio Lopez, 24, is wanted by police after he skipped a March 12 probable cause hearing in 36th District Court, following his March 2 arraignment in 34th District Court in Romulus. He had confessed to the crime, police said. LOL...he could be anywhere now...…………….sheesh!! Folken RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - MoJim - 03-29-2019 That was a pretty easy decision for the accused. 6 kilos, deportation, major jail time vs $200 bucks!! RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - The4thDimension - 03-30-2019 This sounds implausible and completely possible all at the same time. RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - folken - 04-07-2019 UPDATE: A magistrate who set a low bond for a Mexican man accused of smuggling drugs in Detroit says she didn't know he was accused of being part of a large drug operation. Jose Antonio Lopez has disappeared after posting $200. Police say they caught him with 10 pounds of heroin and 4 pounds of cocaine. He didn't appear at a recent court hearing and may have fled to Mexico after the March 2 arraignment. Magistrate Vesta Svenson tells The Associated Press that she's "not perfect" and may have overlooked the "large amount of drugs." She says, "I don't have any memory of this." No prosecutor attended the weekend arraignment. Svenson is a former judge who works five or six weekends a year. Wayne County Chief Judge Tim Kenny says Svenson will be dropped from the rotation. Detroit Police Chief James Craig says "it's an outrage" that Lopez' bond was so low. << hasta la vista baby!! >> Jose Antonio Lopez is one of Detroit's most wanted................................ good luck getting him back. Folken RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - Linville - 04-07-2019 Wow Just wow RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - folken - 04-08-2019 yeah ya know you absolutely would not believe some of the stuff that goes on, in a town like Detroit. Decades of corruption ( former mayor still in jail for bribes and kick backs ), infrastructure neglect, school closings, huge crime and drugs. I mean they used run out on the street on Woodward avenue and stop your car << I witnessed this, no rumor >> Fortunately << hard to believe it was worse >>, it is way better today than it was- say 10 years ago. Gone are the Coleman Young days and his successors. Looks like the voters of Detroit finally realize things can get better, by using their votes to install people who care about the city, and not lining their pockets or blaming some else for their problems. I am very optimistic on Detroit's future...……………………….. Folken RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - Sudsy - 04-26-2019 I had a friend spent 30 days in jail for 1 joint back in the 60s sudsy RE: WHAT!!! can't make this stuff up.......... - Nobleone - 05-03-2019 Some upside down country we live in.. Any legal citizen would be looking at years in jail and some large fines but not in Detroit evidently . |
