New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's daughter was among those
arrested during protests over the weekend.
On Saturday night, Chiara de Blasio, 25, was taken into custody
at about 10:30 p.m. local time, the New York City Police Department
confirmed to PEOPLE. She was arrested for unlawful assembly,
police said, then issued a desk appearance ticket and released.
The gathering was in Lower Manhattan, according to
the New York Post, which first reported that Chiara was allegedly
blocking traffic and refused to move.
According to WCMH, at least 345 people were arrested in
New York City on Saturday during gatherings throughout the city.
The Mayor — who also shares son Dante with
wife Chirlane McCray — has not addressed his daughter's arrest,
but spoke about the protests during a press conference on Saturday.
"To the peaceful protesters ... let me be very clear: we hear your
desire to change these issues, the relationship between police and
community, the need for justice, the need for real change in our
society," de Blasio, 59, said. "We hear you loud and clear."
Added the Mayor: "We appreciate and respect all peaceful protest. ...
Change is coming in this city."

Not a riot, but I saw a very large Black Lives Matter protest near my home. Thousands of people, many angry (I think with justification) and that anger manifested itself in passionate speeches and chanting. The police watched from a distance, I think not wanting to create a confrontation. As far as I know it remained entirely peaceful, although they did block a major road for about an hour. It was actually quite racially diverse with lots of white people in support. Not surprisingly the most passionate chanting and speeches came from black protesters.
IceWizard: That link you posted is so sinister! The idea of people manufacturing apparent grass roots movements that are controlled in that way is beyond cynical. It kinda insults anyone who has sincerely gone out and protested about anything!

The paid agitators sp? tried to get a protest group to knock over a large police van. and the protesters filmed him, and told him hell no.
two days ago, the paid rioters, whom wore all masks and wrote Black Lives Matter on their masks, stood behind the peaceful protestors and threw bricks and rocks at LE. And the peaceful protesters turned around and beat the hell outta the paid aggressors. Cuz the peaceful guys were in the front and would have been shot. The rubber bullets do cause damage. One kid lost his eye. And that really pisses me off cuz we were told always that rubber bullets can be used in animal rescue cuz it causes no pain and no problems. Damn they lie about everything.
I am really sick and tired of them coming to my area every nite. And where i used to have my law office, in the nice area of the Bronx, but i carried a gun and had an attack dog, they destroyed parts of the Bronx where me grandma had lived. And where me father and i had our office. Those are the paid protesters.
But we got them on film, another group, pulling up in four trucks. They jumped out to loot a major store, but the police were waiting and they ran off.
We have further fears now as this riot without masks and with thousands, will spike the covid numbers again.
And we just got down to 45 a day in re: deaths.
and they are trampelling the covid germs from NYC which all we elders would avoid, and are marching in totally residential areas.
A 75 yr old white man went up to LE with a question, and LE was young and untrained and very hyper and they pushed him back and u could hear his skull crack open and the blood started coming out his ear. He is still alive and thank
God will make it.
Some reporters saw people delivering large rocks and bricks and other weaponry with masks to hide their identity, at several places in NYC and other areas where peaceful protests were planned.
Just everyone be careful cuz even if your area is not on lockdown, it is stil dangerous as hell out there.
