serious medicare scam - Charon - 09-09-2024

it sounds plausible if u trust people allegedly in the hierarchy.

but, if u ever need to contact medicare or medicaid, make sure u are the one whom is doing the calling.

ALERT SENIORS!!! .I just got MEDICARE SCAMMED!!
A lady who said she is from Medicare called me to verify
my Medicare information so that Medicare could mail
me the new plastic Medicare card to replace the paper one.
Hmmm....that sounded logical to me.
Still, I wa skeptical and asked her questions. She gave me her full name and government ID number to sound legitimate. She threw in the fear factor by
saying if she does not verify my information my Medicare
account will be voided and I will need to create a new account.
To "verify" my info she asked me to provide details on my card.
Full name, Medicare no., Part A and B, issuance date of card.
She also "needed" me to verify my birthdate.
Then she started asking about my blood pressure...when I questioned
about why she need that...she hung up!!!! I was scammed.
Called my insurance broker...he told me Medicare is not sending
out plastic Medicare cards. He told me to call 1 800 MEDICARE and
let them know what happened.
I called Medicare and they created a report of the incident and
advised me to check my Medicare bills to make sure there is
no false billing. If there is, to call 1 800 MEDICARE.

You know, being scammed is becoming more and more prevalent.
Even when you think your antenaes are up after 3 cups of coffee...lol.
So, remember, never give your Medicare number to anyone except
your doctor and health care providers.
A side note, let's stick together and report these scams on this site.
We are neighbors and need to protect eachother.
Have a blessed day.
Your neighbor, Liz

The paper one works just fine. its the number that is pertinent. If you feel a compelling need to get a new plastic medicare card which i am not even sure They have now, make sure u contact them. and if they sound scurvy, hang up and call again for another rep.

As you may know, I have "YouMail" to answer my phone..

The message says to the effect:
"At the customer's request, this number no longer accepts in-coming calls"

Which most all neer-do-wells hang up , but just last Thursday, I got a call..

From "Health Hmn Sr" ... 3 calls, back to back, so I got my little bosslady
to answer and say I wasn't here ... Then they asked her if I had a phone number
in Ohio I could be reached at.... Ohio?!?! I left there several years ago...

So looks like they had old data on me and was tryin to "update"
for nefarious reasons ....

Always tell them (if you do answer) that YOU will contact the main office..
YOU be the one that does the call , it's better safe than sorry and the
scammers are getting MUCH better ...

Just do a quick g00gl3 search ....
This was...

I'm sorry that happened to you Charon.
No matter what it is, never give out your numbers.

I have been getting calls for the last 6 months from people saying they can help with my tax problem. I don't have a tax problem, but finally called the IRS to make sure. They certainly make this stuff sound real.

Actually i copied this. From what is a scam site. I don't take calls from unknowns and i would never give up my SS number.

Thank u so much though. Sorry they pester you. Somehow i set my cell phone to do a wacko noise and hang up on anyone not in my few contacts.

Have a glorious day my friend.

What a disgusting scam. I'm very lucky to have the NHS, which for all its flaws avoids any billing issues.
