Psalm 82:1-8


1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty;
he judgeth among the gods.
2 How long will ye judge unjustly,
and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
3 Defend the poor and fatherless:
do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy:
rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They know not, neither will they understand;
they walk on in darkness:
all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
6 I have said, Ye are gods;
and all of you are children of the most High.
7 But ye shall die like men,
and fall like one of the princes.
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth:
for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Father in heaven,

We surrender ourselves to your love, the love in which Christ comes to us.
Like children we say every day to the Lord Jesus himself,
"Lord Jesus, come, come! Even if we cannot see you today
because times have changed, come into the world, come more
and more into world history. Send more and more of your nature,
your goodness, into all hearts. Come at last, come quickly to bring
an end to the adversary, an end to world power with its sinister,
hostile character. May bright day, clear light from the Father in heaven,
dawn through you, Lord Jesus. Yes, come, Lord Jesus!"

and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the
earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all;
and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great,
and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee,
and praise thy glorious name.

Father in heaven,

We seek your face and long to find you.
May we find you as your people found you in times past when
you drew near with many signs and miracles.
May our hearts come before you in awe and trust and draw their
strength from you. May many in our time seek you and receive
your comfort and help, for you provide strength and courage for
the poor and destitute, for the suffering and the dying.
Do not let our age pass by in vain, O great and almighty God.
A new time must surely come, a new day must be born from this present age.
This is your will, and in your will we trust.

Hebrews 3:12-19


12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day;
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ,
if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice,
harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke:
howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years?
was it not with them that had sinned,
whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest,
but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Lord our God,

We think of all the people who have trusted in you.
We remember all the signs and wonders you have
shown to establish your name among us.
We belong to those who hold to you today;
may our hearts be kept faithful through your Spirit.
Even if there are great hardships in our times and
everything seems on the verge of collapse,
even if the world perishes, you, O God, are our stronghold.
This truth remains forever. In you we want to hold
true until your great day comes, until the power of the
Savior is revealed in many people so that in their misery
they can believe and find help and comfort.

Proverbs 18:1-7


1 Through desire a man, having separated himself,
seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
2 A fool hath no delight in understanding,
but that his heart may discover itself.
3 When the wicked cometh,
then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
4 The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters,
and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked,
to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 A fool's lips enter into contention,
and his mouth calleth for strokes.
7 A fool's mouth is his destruction,
and his lips are the snare of his soul.

Dear Father in heaven,

Look on us as your children, and grant that we may feel in you the
highest good for time and eternity. Even if we have to deny ourselves
and make great sacrifices, you remain our treasure, our riches, our love,
and our joy. Give us strength as a gathered people ready to serve you.
Grant us your Spirit whenever we do not understand what we should do.
Shelter us always in your hands, and allow us to see your miracles in souls
and in bodies. For you are our God, the Almighty,
and you find the way to help in everything.

13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him

How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16 Jesus answered them, and said,
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will,
he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God,
or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory:
but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true,
and no unrighteousness is in him.
19 Did not Moses give you the law,
and yet none of you keepeth the law?
Why go ye about to kill me?

Lord our God,

We thank you for allowing us to be called your children.
We thank you for giving us the power to become more
truly your children, so that there may be a witness to
your name on earth, so that again and again in the
name of Jesus Christ new power may come for body and soul,
for the happy and unhappy, for all who are still following
false paths, for all who suffer so much grief, fear, and need.
We thank you and we praise your name. Help us on our way.
Help us weak people who often grow anxious and afraid.
Help us in everything. Help us especially in the concern we
have deepest in our hearts, that your name may be honored,
your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth as in heaven.
