Psalm 16:1 - 11


1 Preserve me,
O God:
for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul,
thou hast said unto the Lord,
Thou art my Lord:
my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth,
and to the excellent,
in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god:
their drink offerings of blood will I not offer,
nor take up their names into my lips.
5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:
thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;
yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the Lord,
who hath given me counsel:
my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord always before me:
because he is at my right hand,
I shall not be moved.

Dear Father in heaven,

We are your children,
and we look to you and to your help at every turn of our lives.
Remember us,
especially when we want to serve you.
Stay with us with your Spirit so that everything may work out to further
your kingdom and the victory of Jesus Christ,
which is to be proclaimed on earth.
Through his victory all people shall find in him their
Savior and look to you,
our Father in heaven.
Yes, Father in heaven,
have mercy on the world,
on the many who are unfortunate and who suffer from the
widespread evil around them.
Remember them.
Have mercy on us through the strong
and mighty Lord, Jesus Christ.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ,
that we might be justified by faith.

we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God
by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized
into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither bond nor free,
there is neither male nor female:
for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's,
then are ye Abraham's seed,
and heirs according to the promise.

Lord Jesus,

We bow before you,
before you to whom all power is given.
We will love you, O Lord.
We will treasure you.
Your thoughts shall be our thoughts,
that we may learn how you are named in heaven,
on earth, and below the earth.
Watch over us and be with us until you can come,
until the time is fulfilled when you will appear among us
and establish God’s kingdom.
Then the whole world will rejoice and all people
will bend their knees before you,
the one Lord and Savior.

Follow me.

as Jesus sat at meat in the house,
behold, many publicans and sinners came
and sat down with him and his disciples.
11 And when the Pharisees saw it,
they said unto his disciples,
Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
12 But when Jesus heard that,
he said unto them,
They that be whole need not a physician,
but they that are sick.
13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth,
I will have mercy,
and not sacrifice:
for I am not come to call the righteous,
but sinners to repentance.

Dear Father in heaven,

We thank you as your children,
whom you know how to gather.
You have brought us into community with you in a wonderful way,
in the midst of a world full of unrest,
full of misery, and full of sin.
For you know your children and lead them into community with you.
You comfort them.
You give them strength of faith,
and confidence in your rulership and your kingdom,
which will prevail over everything evil and deathly that still seems to control humankind.
But your dominion reaches far,
far beyond.
You will keep us in your hands.
For the sake of those who trust in you,
you will send your grace and your help into the whole world.

I love “Footprints in the Sand” 

My grandmother had this hanging in the living room when I was a baby until…she was the closest thing to a mother I ever had. She would read it to me when I lay on the couch to take a nap.

Such a touching and happy memory. I was a toddler, but this stuck with me…

Proverbs 11:1 - 8


1 A false balance is abomination to the Lord:
but a just weight is his delight.
2 When pride cometh,
then cometh shame:
but with the lowly is wisdom.
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them:
but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath:
but righteousness delivereth from death.
5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way:
but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them:
but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
7 When a wicked man dieth,
his expectation shall perish:
and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble,
and the wicked cometh in his stead.

Lord our God,

Light of the world and light of our human life,
we thank you for sending your Word into our hearts.
Your Word works within us and allows us to rejoice.
Even if we often experience hard and bitter times here on earth,
we can rejoice already,
as the world shall rejoice when your will and your Word are fulfilled.
Protect us,
and keep us pure and free in spirit,
that we may be your servants,
that we may sometimes be allowed to say a little word in harmony with the great,
powerful Word which you have sent into the world.

and all evil speakings,

desire the sincere milk of the word,
that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 To whom coming,
as unto a living stone,
disallowed indeed of men,
but chosen of God,
and precious,
5 Ye also,
as lively stones,
are built up a spiritual house,
an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Dear Father in heaven,

Grant that we may share in the community of your Holy Spirit.
In community with you our earthly troubles fall away and
we remain in your peace in spite of all our failures and shortcomings,
in spite of all the toil we must gladly take upon ourselves.
Watch over us.
Keep our hearts unshaken,
clear, and steady.
Keep us in the certainty that your kingdom is coming,
is already beginning and can be plainly seen, so that all people can
receive the good you have planned for them.
Be with us this night.
