1 John 4:18-19

18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love
drives out fear, because fear has to do with
punishment. The one who fears is not made
perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.


My Prayer...

Most gracious and compassionate God,
In this time of great trouble, when it seems
as if the whole world is in an uproar, we
come before you.  We trust that you are with us,
that you are our refuge to protect us from this
invisible storm, that you are our strength upholding
our fearful hearts, that your Spirit is our Comforter
who calms our uncertain fear.
Help us O God to be still, and know in the deepest
part of our being, that you are our God.
We pray for your divine guidance of those who have
the responsibility of making decisions.  Guide them
to receive and share accurate information, to discern
wise responses and give clear and thoughtful directions.
We pray for medical staff who care for all who are sick. 
Protect their health O God, that their important task of
healing and care may continue.
We pray for those scientists who are developing treatments
and vaccines that will protect us.
And we pray for those who are most at risk and vulnerable,
especially those who are older and those who are poor.
The psalmist calls us to “Be still and know that you are God.” 
In the fearful noise of our hearts, and in the silence of this moment,
help us to be still and know your presence with us.
Come now, Holy Spirit, and fill our hearts with your peace
in our silence . . .
