2 Peter 1 : 1-8

   
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ,
to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through
the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through
the knowledge of God,
and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us
all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding
great and precious promises:
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this,
giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue;
and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance;
and to temperance patience;
and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you,
and abound,
they make you that ye shall neither be barren
nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ.




Today's Prayer...



Lord our God,,

Give us your Spirit,
we beseech you,
that we may find your paths on earth and
live in the hope and certainty that everything
is in your hands,
even when we see much that is unjust and evil.
May we remain under your protection,
living by your commandments and in your Spirit.
For your Spirit witnesses to the truth and longs
to change and lift up our lives.
Your Spirit longs to reach all people who
have felt your touch,
longs that they may come to you and have life.

Romans 5 : 13-21

   
13 ( For until the law sin was in the world:
but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses,
even over them that had not sinned after the
similitude of Adam's transgression,
who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence,
so also is the free gift.
For if through the offence of one many be dead,
much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace,
which is by one man, Jesus Christ,
hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned,
so is the gift:
for the judgment was by one to condemnation,
but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one;
much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the
gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. )
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon
all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the
free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,
so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.
But where sin abounded,
grace did much more abound:
21 That as sin hath reigned unto death,
even so might grace reign through righteousness unto
eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord our God,,

Our Father in heaven,
we come to you as your children.
Bless us, we pray.
Bless us especially in days when fear tries
to take hold of us.
Let your help come down to us as you
have promised,
the great help in Jesus Christ,
who shall come to redeem the whole world.
Bless us through your Word.
Renew us again and again to stand firm and true to you,
for you are our help for redemption and reconciliation
through Jesus Christ.

and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs:
they shall consume;
into smoke shall they consume away.
21 The wicked borroweth,
and payeth not again:
but the righteous sheweth mercy,
and giveth.
22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth;
and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:
and he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old;
yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor his seed begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful,
and lendeth;

and dwell for evermore.

Father in heaven,,

We people on earth are poor and needy.
We are deaf and dumb,
but you rouse us every day and call to us,
"Ephphatha."
We thank you for this,
in gladness for all you do for our sake.
Help us to become united in expectation for the great day
when our Lord Jesus Christ will come,
when before all people he will be proved your Son,
the Savior in whom you,
the Almighty,
come to meet us.
Through him you say again,
"Let there be light!
Let there be life!
Let life break free from the darkness of death
so that Jesus may come as the Savior of all,
the Savior even of those who are still in deepest darkness."

We be Abraham's seed,
and were never in bondage to any man:
how sayest thou,
Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever:
but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed.
37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed;
but ye seek to kill me,
because my word hath no place in you.
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father:
and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

Almighty God,,

We thank you for sending your light into all the world
to reveal that you are the Father of all,
to show us that you are leading them to yourself,
the good and the bad,
those who are near to you and those who are far away.
We thank you that through all this your name may
be acknowledged and honored.
We thank you that we may live from your hand and that
everyone may see your work on earth and be filled with praise.
May the light which you have sent to earth in
Jesus Christ shine brightly for us and penetrate our
hearts so that we open ourselves to it with joy,
and worship the Savior.
Bless us and give us your Spirit;
without your Spirit we can do nothing.
May we receive help from you every day.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die:
yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.

Lord our God,,

Our Father, give us your Spirit, we pray,
for you have ruled over us at all times and loved us
with a love that guides and leads us,
that helps us go forward in body and soul.
Reveal your hand.
Grant that we undertake nothing in human strength;
may everything come from you for each one whose
heart holds true to you and who does the
work intended for him.
Then everything we do on earth can be a service to you.
Protect us through your great goodness and faithfulness,
which have been with us to this day
and will go with us into the future.
