1 Timothy 6 : 1-10

01 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters
worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
02 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them,
because they are brethren; but rather do them service,
because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit.
These things teach and exhort.
03 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words,
even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
04 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and
strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
05 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds,
and destitute of the truth,
supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
06 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
07 For we brought nothing into this world,
and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
09 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
09 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith,
and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Dear Father in heaven,

We thank You for our refuge this day
and for each day to come,
touch us with the finger of Your power.
Be our protection and strong defense
against all attacks of darkness.
Where people look to You out of the darkness,
let their eyes grow shining bright
with the light from Your eyes.
Let Your light shine within us and around us.
Let Your light bring Your cause to victory,
to the final great day of Jesus Christ."

Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
02 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God:
for unto thee will I pray.
03 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD;
in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
04 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness:
neither shall evil dwell with thee.
05 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight:
thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
06 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing:
the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
07 But as for me,
I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy:
and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
08 Lead me, O LORD,
in thy righteousness because of mine enemies;
make thy way straight before my face.

Lord our God,

Through the Spirit grant us community with You,
we pray.
Help us onward again and again,
and help us grow in strength to follow what is true and good.
May Your goodness and Your grace be in our hearts
to help us in all practical things.
Grant that wherever we live we may have
something of the power in which Jesus Christ
lived and suffered,
in which He died and yet lives again.
May the world still learn that it has a redeemer
and that it belongs to Him,
to the glory of Your Name."
