Safe now allowed me to access my account yesterday and then when I went to access it today to get all my sensitive information from it it says it's an illegal account and they closed it
Has anyone looked into setting up their own mail server behind a VPN? I am looking into it but was wondering on some pointers. Things like safemail make me nervous because they definitely log your IP address or VPN IP address if you go that way. It leaves a trail....
Yes. Of course. I dunno if Iwould without.

Do you mean running a mail server in your own home? I assume that would be why you'd want the VPN.
I'm weighing up the relative merits of doing it at home versus on a server elsewhere (or perhaps a small virtual machine). Either way, it is going to leave a trail of IP addresses. You can obfuscate a bit, but anyone doing something seriously bad can be found. My interest in doing it myself is mostly just the technical challenge, but I can see there is some comfort in knowing where your emails are.
Would be interesting to hear from anyone with experience.

oh wow, thats odd that they are still going through emails and deleting them. The info that I read sounded like they had done all of that before they put it back online. Not good that they may still be actively going through email accounts after being up and running
My safe-mail came right back up and I didn't lose anything, I even placed an order to a 'well-known' email vendor through safe-mail. She is still there so I assume I'm safe and always use the VPN. Is my assumption wrong? Should I switch to another email provider? Your input is greatly appreciated.
Agreed.
I also use sigaint/lelantos
