Prescription Meds 3rd Leading Cause of Death?
#1

This isn't another article about dangers of needed, effective medication - the ones govts want to eradicate that we need to function or quality of life..
This is about the prescribed, ineffective meds BigPharm and doctors are pushing on us, with explanation why this is killing us.

Prescription Medications: Third Leading Cause of Death

by Dr. Brownstein's Holistic Medicine

"Folks I have been writing to you for many years now about the dangers of solely relying on prescription medications.  Nearly all prescription medications work by poisoning enzymes and blocking receptors in the body.  As I stated in my book, Drugs That Don’t Work and Natural Therapies That Do, “You can’t poison a crucial enzyme or block an important receptor for the long-term and expect a good result.”  Health care providers should be searching for ways to make our patients healthier, not just treating symptoms with prescription drugs that provide no health benefits.  Drugs do not make us healthier.  And, keep in mind that many commonly prescribed drugs fail most who take them."   (my emphasis)

"For example, the standard-of-care when treating a patient for heart disease is to use a statin drug.  In fact, nearly one-third of adult Americans currently take a statin drug.  A statin drug poisons an enzyme in the body—HMG CoA reductase.  The best of statin studies show that it results in a 1% (primary prevention—preventing a first heart attack) reduction in non-fatal heart attacks if it is taken for at least three years.  That means the drug fails 99%–they will not have any benefit from taking the drug.  And, they are subjected to the myriad of side effects from taking a statin such as muscle pains, congestive heart failure, brain dysfunction and diabetes.  I have written extensively about the failure of statins in my book, The Statin Disaster. How could one-third of Americans be taking a drug that fails 99% who take it?"
(my emphasis - statins are a pet peeve of mine)

Dr. Peter Gotzsche, director of the independent Nordic Cochrane Centre claims that taking too many ineffective and unsafe prescription drugs could be the biggest problem we are facing today.  He said:

"It is an enormous problem. It’s one of the biggest problems we have in the world today, but people don’t realize how terrible it is. I have estimated that our prescription drugs are the third major killer after heart disease and cancer. And I have recently looked at psychiatric drugs, and these drugs are so harmful that they alone are also your third major killer after heart disease and cancer."

(I agree with him after working psych units many years - they have been giving children psych meds that say ONLY FOR ADULTS for decades... I am outraged by it and sickened I was ever a part of this harm.  God, forgive me)

"It is interesting to note that Dr. Gotzsche used to work for Big Pharma."

Dr. Brownstein says:

"I could not agree with Dr. Gotzsche more.  I have written about psychiatric drugs in my book Drugs That Don’t Work and Natural Therapies That Do.  These drugs fail to work better than a placebo in most studies and they fail when compared to exercise in every study.

Before I continue, I want to make clear that I prescribe prescription drugs. There is a time and a place for many drugs. If you have pneumonia, I think appropriate antibiotics should be prescribed.  However, there are many prescription drugs that should never be prescribed, such as a statin medication, since they fail the vast majority who take them.   (my emphasis)

How did we get to this point?  Why are doctors prescribing so many drugs that fail and seriously harm or kill so many?
We are at this point because most health care providers simply cannot understand how to critically read a study nor do they understand much about what is health and how to optimize it.

I do not take pleasure in writing this.  I also feel that it is important to state that you must take control of your own health care decisions.  You must educate yourself about any medication prescribed to you. If you don’t do your own due diligence, you could experience serious adverse effects from commonly prescribed prescriptions.
(my emphasis)

Finally, it is also important to find a health care provider who is working for you, not working for Big Pharma or the insurance companies.  If your health care provider does not think as you do, then I suggest it is time to find another one.

The International College of Integrative Medicine  (www. icimed .com) is a good place to find a holistic practicitioner.

Everyone flipped out when I went AMA re: meds, but I knew my body better than them & it spoke to me, saying "This is not the way".
Now sev yrs later and with only 3 meds, occ OTC, I am better than on 9 meds specialists prescribed for 8+ yr - myself again - but with some permanent damage due to MD's prescriptions (I can only imagine if I hadn't been stubborn & refused to take statins, etc)

My MD said if not for the injury and its continuing damage, I wouldn't have any real physical problems right now (almost 60) except some arthritis from tomboy day injuries   (*smile, shrug shoulder, nice memories*)
Their medicine left me with permanent memory damage, caught it myself before too bad but what about people not as perceptive or knowledgeable?  Memory, word finding problems etc.  I didn't need that along with wracking pain, but

I regret my younger years as a nurse when I administered meds that I know now may have injured some.
Some I felt uncomfortable & questioned at the time, esp kids, then followed orders like good little Nazi.  Some psych meds never tested or approved for under 18 given routinely in sev states I saw...
Hate to see meds I didn't feel right about in ads now.  Like I knew inside the entire time these were trash meds, sensed it?
If you read current research on meds/methods - too many unintended consequences to predict (if Pharma even cared)
They can't test the interactions of all the different meds being prescribed at same time for individuals that could harm...
More and more med lawsuit ads on TV from meds, yeah, I remember when they were the "new miracle" drugs.

Most of all I'm glad I educated myself and took control of my health - holistic is the way to go for me!
I admit sometimes it feels easier to just take a pill and "fix" things, but big picture I'd prefer to suffer bit more my way,
Not be "doped up", losing my soul while being killed by their meds.  Paying them to do that to you, too.  That's kicker.

Great article. Absolutely true i believe, also.

I find it hard to believe that humira, a god forsaken med for RA only, is now given for chrons, and for acne. insanity.

Doctors prescribe these meds because they are offered a fortune in money and anything else they want, if they do.

Great read Dancing Wolf.

Thanks for posting the article......and especially your personal comments were very interesting as well .

The big companies and organizations surely push and as Charon mentioned even widen the original intended use of so many drugs.

RX ones that have no benefit but to make one a mindless robot .....oh wait I'm starting down a rabbit trail.

Sorry...

But very eye opening article and comments by you DW one who worked the field.

Unfortunately sad but true. I have to say I know from inside since this is part of my job. Prescription meds serious side effects and death are an epidemic probably second as a cause of death or serious disability. Remember who was Rx pk for decades, who introduced Oxy and Fent. They stated that these were less addictive super pain pk's. We know how big lie this was but we had to follow the current as good clients of big pharmas. Money were good so no worries. Nothing else matters since you had a pocket full of cash when you Rx by the rules. We all see now what we have done and we are not able to reverse the tide no matter how bad we fell now. I wish I was not a part of that business.
