That would certainly slow down if not completely stop new threads being listed on Google.
Is there a reason we don't have one?

Why not add a robots.txt?

because we were private for awhile. but, i allow my co admin, Admin of steel, to answer such questions. At his leisure.
I deal with the people at the forum. (But, even if we had the robots txt, u would still have received a 2/3 warning for discussion of ROA in RC thread. Just sayin.) It is Well with My Soul

I was actually inspired by this post http://ioplist.org/showthread.php?tid=2584. A simple robots.txt can prevent google from indexing all of the threads, while keeping the main url up so people can find us and we can grow as a community.

i understand that. i was being a tad bit snotty before i admit it.
my co admin, admin of steel, will handle ALL THIS. I counsel people in private counseling. k? sorry i was a tad bit snarky before. But, with my tremors, i shall break the internet if i attempt to do anything of this nature. Admin of steel will address this when he can. Deal? It is Well with My Soul

We want to be listed but want to stay safe that is why we prefer our threads to be optimized by Google because our Vendors here gain traffic and our forum gains momentum as new visitors arrive. As for the stuff that needs to be kept private we have kept it private. The topic has already been discussed.
The only way to know how strong you are is to keep testing your limits.
