purports to be from gmail. ha!

what, they waited ten days to notify me someone has my password?

Balderdash.

I read that gmail was being targetted by hackers in russia. They will ask for you to re set your password, and, if u do, its all over now, baby blue.

This is the pathetically bad spam email i got:

I know google isn't the only one to be hit by this. I've had it from all kinds of places, even Sephora as they know most people store their credit card in their profile.

My general rule and my bank also told me the same is to never give your password or personal data to anyone who emails you. They also encourage you to report these messages through the coprprate phone number so they can see who is trying to tap their systems.

It sucks this is the world we live in. I guess just watch eachother's back and spread the word. Maybe we will win!

spam message in spam folder ,people seem to go miles these days to get peoples passwords.For someone who needs real security two way authentication is way to go,other then that when getting messages be it bank paypal or mail,never ever open the link in description.if theres fault people are notified directly from site.

Also simple trick to notice links always contain http:\\address ,where every real and secure site will have https-its pretty hard to get license since s stands for ssl secure certificate,and they arent sold cheap.

Thanks Charon for the warning. This can happen to Gmail or hotmail or every were . No one is immune from attacks. There is no security especially if u are not informed before it happens.

gmail,yahoo and other services implemented two way authentication long time ago,specially yahoo this year went down hard on securing mail since they got hacked few years back but didnt mention until this year.

anyway two way authentication allows user to retrieve password in alternative ways secondary email,or sms.some people might not even know they have such function,but if ever changed password or gotten sms or unlock key to alternative source usually them providers keep it as secondary,as opposed to old times where passphrase was means of recovering password or account.
