The CIA director, William Burns, tested positive for COVID on Thursday morning, one day after joining President Biden in a socially spaced out meeting, the intelligence agency said.

Burns, 65, received the diagnosis after taking a routine PCR test and was experiencing mild symptoms, according to the CIA. He is vaccinated and boosted against coronavirus, the CIA said.

The CIA said Burns wore a mask in the meeting with Biden, who is 79 and has received two booster shots. Burns was continuing his work from home, according to the agency.

“I look forward to returning to the office as soon as possible,” Burns said in a statement.

Though coronavirus spread has dropped dramatically in the U.S. since January, the Biden administration has been hit by scattered cases recently.

Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, tested positive for COVID last week. Karine Jean-Pierre, the deputy White House press secretary, said Sunday that she tested positive, too.

Biden has not had a COVID diagnosis during his presidency.

The president’s contact with Burns is “not considered close contact” under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, the CIA said in its statement.

“Director Burns is sharing the news of his positive test out of an abundance of transparency,” the CIA added in the statement.

Hundreds of Russian troops evacuate Chernobyl with 'acute radiation sickness'
Hundreds of Russian soldiers were evacuated from Ukraine's Chernobyl nuclear facility with "acute radiation sickness," according to a report.

The defunct nuclear plant was captured by Russian forces within the first day of the invasion, Pentagon officials said.

The soldiers stationed at Chernobyl reported they were "irradiated" and have since been taken to a Belarus medical facility, according to an employee at the Public Council at the State Agency of Ukraine for Exclusion Zone Management.

"Another batch of irradiated terrorists who seized the Chernobyl zone was brought to the Belarusian Radiation Medicine Center in Gomel today,” Yaroslav Yemelianenko said in a statement.

"Have you dug trenches in the Red Forest, b******? Now live the rest of your short life with this. There are rules for handling this area. They are mandatory because radiation is physics — it works regardless of status or shoulder ranks."

The Russian troops first fell ill after they reportedly "looted and destroyed" a laboratory holding "highly active" radioactive material.

The laboratory held “highly active samples and samples of radionuclides that are now in the hands of the enemy," a Ukrainian state agency said, according to the report.

Ukrainian leaders such as President Volodymyr Zelensky have alleged the Russians are utilizing the exclusion zone surrounding Chernobyl to ready for future attacks, and the United Nations nuclear watchdog has employed an online program to monitor nuclear plants occupied by Russian forces, the report noted.

yeah, too weary to edit all that fol de rol.

those poor russians did not get told about that area, eh wot? if u watch history or science round this country, you find that no one lives there now but for some abandoned dogs that turned blue. its an annoying science show that goes thru six reasons why maybe the dogs are blue. Then says oh hell no. i never hear the real reason so i am guessing its from radiation.

War is always such hell on military. Even in countries still believed to be democracies. The shots. Absence from family. God only knows what happens. But that rat bastard sent them in with no concern and no research on the harm to his russian soldiers.

He is not human.

That is a whole lot of stuff to spend time on editing Charon!!!!

As for Chernobyl, when I worked for the government, we had a few radiation sources
that required "leak tests" every month.  Scary!!  And we had classes (of course) that
were mandatory before we were qualified to do these leak tests.

Anyway, I listened with one ear - as most government classes were dry and pertained to
everybody, which was always over-kill.
But one thing I remember because of the sheer amazement of it was that Chernobyl and
surrounding areas had been restricted and banned unless you had protective suits on
because the "predicted time it would take for it to be 'safe' was determined to be
20,000 YEARS !!!!"  I have never looked it up but it blew my mind enough to drop out
of the class and tell my boss I would not be doing any testing for leaks!!  This class would have been
in the mid 90's which wasn't very long after the incident so that 20,000 years may have changed but
with all the radiation poisoning soldiers are suffering from right now I doubt it has changed much!!

We had several sources on depot all in one building and it took a full day with just
gloves to go around and take swipes with a round pad and bottle each one and label
it.  Just my experience with radiation.  Thought I would share.  I might have to goggle
it now out of curiosity!!

The only reason we had any sources was because it was used in night vision equipment.  Minute amounts were
used in extremely secure and specific areas.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!
