But, so far, is the best drug I have tried for insomnia ( including midazolam, zopiclone, eszopiclone , etc )

Yes we are all different but in my experience I think a week or two is enough to notice the tolderence.
I also supplement with melatonin an hour before bedtime. This often helps to stay sleep instead of waking up 3-4 hours later.
I find it a better solution than taking another Z in the middle of the night.

Definitely the best medicine I have used for insomnia, and I have been prescribed them all. Tolerance does build, and now I take trazodone and lorazepam with it (all rx'ed by same physician). I've tried skipping a week here and there, and the first few nights are rough, but it gets better. A good way to help keep tolerance at bay.

I tried zolpidem for a short period of time during the time I was travelling a lot.
But I did not like it. It never gave me a full night of sleep.

And I would like to add..the same Dutch vendors I mentioned in the diazepam topic, they all carry zolpidem too.

Not to mention zolpidem is commonly faked.

Ive had troubles with it aswell either way, although it gave me a full night sleep. I had frequent nightmares.

changing over to zopiclone actually caused the nightmares to become full blown night terrors with almost occult connotations. After much reading I still havent found a rational chemical/scientific reason as to what causes this, though I do have some theories

I never liked the Z drugs. Never kept me asleep and I always felt strange side effects from them next day.

Low-dose alps before bed have always given me a solid nights sleep and do their job at helping to curb early morning anxiety. I think I had early-morning drowsiness initially but that went away pretty quickly.

Yes, but I just wish it would work for more hours. For me, is 2 to 4 hours . And The long release version, not much better.
But yes, sometimes I take zolpi when I wake up 3 am and can't go to sleep. That simple should do it better with the long release version.

Lucky for that ultra short half life ay?? A good hard coffee first thing in the morning or a burst of adrenaline from waking up to an alarm knowing work is just a couple of hours away can cure any initial drowsiness lol

It is very rapid, Ive heard that from many different sources aswell.

I read somewhere that nearly anybody can be put to sleep by even half the commonly prescribed dose, aslong as you havent had it at all in the last week.

Most doctors though will recommend not using it more than once a week. Though eszopiclone and zopiclone are different, its a bit more flexible and doctors will say you can have it every 3-4 days.

There is still so much unknown about the z-drugs, they are so new. and they wreak havoc on delta brainwaves

With eszopiclone and zopiclone have the same problem. I think that the best is 2 days a week use zolpi, other two use eszo, other two trazodone, etc.

There were also some stories in the papers here about how much zolpidem is abused by professional cyclists. And how addictive it can be.
