Physician Assistant Day



Physician Assistant Day, or PA Day, is a celebration of those who assist doctors in their work.

This important event, begun by the American Academy of Physicians’ Assistants, aims to raise awareness of the PA profession, and inform people about healthy living. Physician assistants are less high-profile and glamorous than doctors themselves, but the work that they do is essential for the smooth running of hospitals and performing of healthcare.

Many medical establishments are in need of more people to enter the profession, and one of the main aims of PA Day is to get this message across, encouraging people to consider assistance as a career.

The main celebration takes place on Rockefeller Plaza in New York. You can join in by being there on the day, arranging an event to raise awareness at your local hospital or social hub.

World Smile Day



Sometimes all it takes to make the day better is a smile, whether it’s one someone gives to you, or one you share with another.

Little acts of kindness can bring a shining smile to someone who has otherwise had a terrible day, and it can change everything that follows.

Whether it’s just a simple compliment, a cheery hello, or a gift of something small to help brighten their day, World Smile Day encourages you to take action to bring a few more smiles into the world.

History of World Smile Day

It was a simple thing, a circle with a few dots and an upturned curve, but put together Harvey Ball created one of the most iconic symbols the world had ever seen, and it would quickly come to infect everything from graffiti to modern day emoji’s.

We are, of course, talking about the smiley face, arguably the first emoji to enter the world. Harvey would later express concern that the sheer commercialization of his little symbol would strip it of its original intent and meaning.

It was out of this concern that he created World Smile Day, a day devoted to the spreading of simple joy and love to everyone, regardless of race, gender, or geographic location.

Harvey sadly passed from this world in 2001, but the foundation he helped create, the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation, has carried forth his message of simple peace and love as the sponsor of World Smile Day every year.

Whether you’re simply expressing a bit of silliness or doing a small act of kindness to help someone smile, World Smile Day is your opportunity to help brighten the world and make the world a better place through the simple power of the smile.

A hallmark of Greek coffee culture from the 1950s onwards, the humbly delicious frappe has earned a yearly celebration.

The frappe is distinguished by being one of the few beverages improved by the use of instant coffee! Supposed, the frappe was created by a tired Nestle sales representative at the Thessaloniki Trade Fair who was beset by caffeine cravings.

It’s often said that creativity flourishes in the face of restraint, and so it was when this beleagured man took some instant coffee, cold water, and ice, and shook his way to an internationally enjoyed drink.

There’s a surprising amount of science behind the frappe’s froth. Spray-dried instant coffee, and its lower oil content are the key to creating long-lasting bubbles.

Freeze-dried instant coffee won’t cut it.

The next time you complain that you can’t get a good coffee anywhere in a country, you might just be right!

I checked on catholic web site and the female whom insists its biblical to be a vegan/veggetarian was banned.

From what i saw, he talked of eating meat at christmas. Some claim he abstained from lamb as Jesus became the Lamb of God in Roman Catholic theory.

However, in the bible, when Peter was upset about eating certain foods that as  jewish he could not eat before, JC said:  All things are permissible for a christian.  However, not all things are beneficial.  And, man, have I learned that is true.

World Octopus Day



As the name suggests, World Octopus Day celebrates one of the most distinctive creatures living on the planet today; the octopus.

Octopuses are worthy of appreciation for a number of reasons. First of all, they are one of earth’s great survivors. Indeed, despite their relatively short life span, octopus fossils date back more than 300 million years, meaning that they pre-date even dinosaurs.

They are also highly intelligent, with around 500 million neurons located in their brains and arms, allowing them to bypass their insticts, learn lessons and solve problems.

In addition, they are visually stunning, coming in various different colours and shapes, while the Giant Pacific Octopus is able to grow to weigh more than 600 pounds!

So how should you celebrate World Octopus Day?

Post Day was founded in the Swiss Capital, Bern, and made official by the UPU Congress in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. Post organisations worldwide use the event to promote new services, and increase awareness of the postal system.

There’s little that makes a day as glorious as finishing it off with that perfect combination of beer and pizza.

The foamy head on top of a glass of amber colored joy seems to be tailor made to go with the rich and cheesy texture of that favorite of treats, pizza. It’s little wonder that these two go together so well, the salty savory buttery crust of the pizza is reminiscent of that other favorite bar treat, the pretzel.

The history of Beer and Pizza Day is the history of two amazing substances that travelled the long and winding roads of culinary antiquity to ultimately come together on our tables and hearts.

Beer is the oldest alcoholic beverage known to man, and has occupied an important part of our culinary past as both a liquid food source as well safe way of imbibing water. After all, with all the diseases that occupied the water and no knowledge of where those illnesses came from, it’s hardly surprising that beer was considered one of the safest drinks around!
