Western Union and Moneygram are crappy methods with tons of added fees. Western Union in Canada now offer a website to pay with WU online, but it won't work with many other countries. It seems like WU Canada is very strange, once a purchase was abandoned, well, abandoned in this manner and I bought fractions of bitcoin instead. The guy would not give me the info needed on the Canadian WU form, at a physical agent, I scanned it and shown it to him, and he said the British ones weren't like this at all and refused WU, and actually that caused him to remove WU as an option. It's not a one-size-fits-all method, WU works differently in all countries more or less.
Moneygram...there's no Moneygram agent in my city of 150 000 people, although there's 3 WU agents. So I never bothered even if I wanted.

Western Union is much more difficult to deal with - they will call you with questions - I was interrogated at one point - and I've only used them maybe 3 times. My only option now since MG blocked my account. I am sticking with CC vendors at this point.

I recently experienced this very issue trying to use there services for the first time. Called and interrogated and then told they wouldn't be allowing the transaction to go through. Then the same thing with MG and also xoom. I think the publisher of the magazine I wanted to order has created a red flag for themselves.

With MG....use a machine and a round number.......forget the live agents from WUMG.....it's like asking to be interrogated...duh!

WU were willing partners of a DEA operation back in 2003-04, I can't remember for sure, but a man called Marc Emery in Canada was selling marijuana seeds, which has no legal status since you cannot know if they are female or male seeds. That didn't stop the DEA to force the extradition of Marc, who sold the best seeds, he had the result of every seed perfectly developed in a plan, even if not ordering, it was marijuana porn heh.
He had to spend close to 10 years in prison, WU Canada helped the DEA act like if it had jurisdiction here. He's free now, but I don't think he's selling seeds anymore. although a pro botanist like him will take advantage on the slow but going on legalization of cannabis in this country, something that would happen'd in 2003 if our then PM wasn't afraid of the illogical economic threats a counsel of very high US Officials went to likely pay up to stop the Senate's report. Yeah, you can't live without 80% of our natural resources, border crossing quotas...yeah sure, I see your point, now write me a cheque.

Crypts - interesting information. I HATE using WU - I feel like a criminal and get all anxious just going to the store to do it. I had no idea they were working with the DEA. CC's only for me for awhile.

I think your not getting a response because no body knows the answer

This would give guarantee a lot more privacy, because the receiver of the order would be a different person/post box...
The knowledgable vendors all use "round" numbers because MG is meant to be used to send $ to friends and family, they explicitly don't want it to be used for business......dollars AND CENTS kinda reveals a business transaction/red flag.
Enforcement probably varies from location to location....and that is why it appears to be ok.
Totally avoid the interrogations by using a machine....and round numbers......

If you do a MG transaction sometimes it's sufficient if you give the transfer reference number to the receiver (at least it worked like this in the past), sometimes the receiver says he needs the name of the sender to pick up the money. Is this something which differs from country to country or did MG change this generally?
Pitschnass:
MoneyGram is going to already have your name on file (if you have an account), or ask for your name and matching ID (if you are paying in person). This applies whether you are paying online, at a kiosk, or in person. When the receiver goes to get their cash they are going to have to: 1.) identify the sender, 2.) submit the correct MTCN or whatever MG calls the transaction ID, and 3.) present valid ID to verify that they are the named receiver. That's not all that much information when you think about it.
I expect that there are some countries where MG's terms of service are used very loosely and that there are vendors working from those countries. However, my sense is that these same vendors will only be found in the
Blacklist section here at IOPList.
Good luck and be safe.

MoneyGram every time, I think they are trying t take as many of WU customers as possible as they are now giving 15% discount for anyone coming across, not sure if you have to get the money gram card for that or not but was £22 cheaper that way for myself.
