Ambi3n (z0lpid3m)
#51
My Pain doctor prescribed ambien also gave me Tizanidine and nortriptyline to help sleep 8 hours. It worked for two weeks but afterwards back to 4 hours nightly.
Has anyone tried these meds and what results did you have?

When I was young, I would fight the urge to sleep after taking Ambien Smile

As an adult with what seems like sporadic insomnia, it is nice to know that the possibility of a good night's sleep any/every night is right here at my fingertips. Why suffer?

Thank you for the info everyone!

Besides the above mention of TT2, ect would there be another vendor on this forum that would be recommended as well for zolp"ed"m? I have horrible insomnia as my work is the late shift and has been for 20 years. Very hard to get my circadian rhythm back, if ever at this point. Thanks for any suggestions. And not fond of any India meds as there seems to be no luck with what a person is getting these days. Thanks again! I am slowly posting my way to prove my loyalty around here as well, so if no one can mention, no worries.

You should be able to find it easily from many of the vendors in the "IOPlist" thread. Macro is always a quality source.

I was recently given some Hydroxyzine to help with trouble staying asleep in a rather noisy environment. Works pretty good and doesn't seem to have any of the potentially unpleasant side affects other sleep aids carry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydroxyzine

I tried zolpidem CR from a vendor, and it made me feel sick generally and didn't seem to help me sleep longer. I'm curious if it was bad. Regular zolpidem from the same vendor works fine, but I only sleep about 4 hours.

I feel like I need to add a disclaimer to my last post. I'm not an MD and am cetainly not trying to give medical advice.  My body reacts to most medications different than the majority of others.
My first suggestion, if you are comfortable with it, is to talk with your doc and explain everything.
My experience has shown that most docs will yank that script from you if you suggest going over 10 mgs.  Melatonin does wonders for many people on this board, but not me. Unisom is just overpriced benedryl, but again everyone reacts to medicines differently.
You know your body, and onow what works and doesn't work for you.

Maybe some other members can talk about any experiences you've had with zolpidem/sleep.
We also have the insomnia thread under the general discussion section and there is a lot of good info there too.
Thanks for the reply!  I do have some luck taking melatonin with the zolpidem.  The best I've found is a liquid melatonin.  I know someone who was prescribed lexapro for insomnia (which sounds weird to me) and it worked really well.

Hi Sudsy!  Is there anything you've tried and liked?

Thanks so much for the reply/advice.  My doctor actually recommended benadryl if the zolpidem wasn't enough.  It does help somewhat, but I'm not sure about taking benadryl every night for the rest of my life. (Or zolpidem for that matter.)  I've also battle insomnia for 20+ years.

Interesting comments. I have used CR also. Actually it worked too well. I would wake up after sleeping an entire night, exhausted. Funny how it works so different on each of us.

Hi Mystical--yeah I'd say the CR made me crazier. I also just felt generally unwell and I think it showed on my face. It also didn't really help me sleep longer. But like I said before, I think it might have been bad. I also have good luck with the combination of liquid melatonin and the @mbien. Nice to meet you!

I've been on zolpidem for some time now and was wondering if it would be a good idea to switch to a different Zdrug or alternative route to try to get sleep? I have tried to go without it a couple of times but was not successful in getting ANY sleep. I just do not want my body to get to use to it, although I am sure by now it is. I was on 10mgs not to long ago and the last three months have just been on 5 and it was a little rocky at the beginning but seems to be ok now. It does not "put me out" or anything, and I do not really notice a sleepy or lethargic affect but I can not seem to sleep without it. I am also on prazosin for sleep, which was originally made for high blood pressure but is now used as a treatment for people that have PTSD (primarily helps with nightmares, and it does actually help). I apologize in advance if this is not the right thread to post this. I was going back and forth between whether to post in the insomnia thread or this one, and the insomnia thread did seem to give great advice on different methods of getting to bed, but I wanted info/experience specific to zolpidem. I have also tried (even attended classes) every suggested method in the book for sleep, such as healthy sleep habits, environment, routines, ect, ect. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
