On my last hike......I decided to go "off" trail and do some exploring.
It was a bit more difficult than I expected, but I was rewarded as I stumbled onto an old logging camp.....perhaps 110 years old or more.  No one's been there in a very long time and I am going back to do some still life photos.

I was a bit worried about the time (getting dark) and since I didn't know exactly where I was, I decided to find my way out.  As I followed the creek (very, very difficult....no trail) I came across the tools in the picture below.  Someone, maybe 50-70 years ago, put these tools down under the protection of some trees, (probably with the intention of returning).......but they never returned for reasons I will never know.....nonetheless....it was a striking find.....a moment in time, frozen....and only the holes, rust and age of the tools and the tin bucket had changed the original moment they were put there......very fun and thoughtful for me.

"Intriguing" is the perfect word......imagination and supposition are the only answers Smile

When I said the way out was difficult....I wasn't exaggerating....the creek is under these fallen trees....

The creek's bank caught my peripheral vision because something stood out from the ordinary (I don't mind bragging about my ability to catch the off color, off shape, off anything that doesn't fit in the forest). When I looked closer I saw seashells imbedded in the bank of the creek......showing how this entire area was once under the ocean......these fossils remain and were exposed by the recent torrential rains we have been having in Ca.

Heres's a "rock" filled with seashells that was recently exposed in another nearby creek. Small enough for me to bring home and treasure.
