Hi,

Any recommendations for sources of venlafaxine?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
All the best,

I've seen some Indian vendors carry it. But I wouldn't trust the quality except for very well known vendors.

I was on the lowest dose of venlafaxine or effexor. It helps with my generalized anxiety. Although it does seem to do a lot for the little things in life it won't stop any panic attacks.

None the less it's amazing with how it helps with day to day stuff. I just switched to escitalopram. Effexor was making me a little tired especially in the morning. I

Well that got off track quickly sorry...

Back to your question!! I would honestly just go v to a doctor, even a walk in clinic. This is not a med that is abused.

It has no recreational value what so ever, therefore doctors generally will be pretty receptive to prescribing it. Another bonus is it is cheaper stuff that buy and the big one is you don't have to wait for weeks, worry about quality, seizures or getting ripped off!!

The reason why myself and probably others, use this website, besides the close family like atmosphere where we can ask and answer questions and help each other out, is to help us find certain magazines, that doctors are unwillingly or hesitant to prescribe.

Sometimes we have to do this ourselves as they have faced our hand, but ads for effexor, really suggest just going to your local doctor. Hope all t|is helps and flood luck!

Yes, that's a good point.

Having been on tramadol, I noticed it brightened my mood. I researched tramadol rather more, it seems venlafaxine is a sister drug minus the opiate effects. Therefore, I figured that since tramadol had improved my mood, that once pain was no longer an issue, venlafaxine would be worth a try. I'll raise it with my doctor once I start coming off tramadol. Mixing the two would generally be dangerous (serotonin syndrome), but switching out one for the other might make withdrawal from tramadol better (at least in the sense I'd mainly be coping with opiate withdrawal, rather than all the other neuroreceptors it hits). My experience with tramadol suggests that venlafaxine might be an effective AD for me - I've not had good experiences with any SSRIs or TCAs, so it might offer an alternative.

Thanks Bry686!

A word of caution be very careful with that one. That antidepressant is known to have some of the worst withdrawal symptoms. I wouldn't recommend it if I were you. Just my advice.

Hi Fireplaces, I think that's really the best way to look at it. You have to be careful and watch out for yourself. Just because a Dr prescribes it doesn't mean you should blindly jump on board. Do your homework and know what your getting yourself into.If it works it works.
Best of luck

Thanks everyone - good points about withdrawals. Although in a sense I'm going to have to face that anyway since I've been on Tramadol a long time. I need to investigate what dosages venlafaxine comes in, and whether pills can be split etc. Basically all the info I'd need for tapering. It might be that it is for life, but certainly want to be well informed before making any decisions.

After my experience of being put on diazepam with no warning about the addiction issue, I still listen to doctors' advice but always check things myself.

Thanks again.

I wonder if anyone else has the same experience I had. I've been on escitalopram or venflaxine for about 3 years now I started with the lowest dosage which is 5 mg daily and it helps tremendously with generalized anxiety and then I moved up to 10 mg which helped even more and I stayed at that level for a couple years. Just recently I moved back down to five mg and then I've stopped taking it over the last 5 days.

I was worrying that this medication was making me tired. Looking back when I first started taking it I remember falling asleep in the wash room at my work at times and always feeling tired but I never really connected the two together but over the years I became really tired at times sometimes almost falling asleep at the wheel and just recently I started thinking maybe could be this medication which started out as venaflaxine but switched half way through to escitalpram which the doctor said is the same thing. But these last five days I think I feel a lot more energy, it could just be some sort of rebound effect but I'm hoping it stays.

Has anybody else noticed that when they started taking this they became very tired and lethargic throughout the day? And when they came off did it help to return to normal energy levels? FYI I didn't experience any withdrawal symptoms or even many brain zaps over the last 5 days. But I have noticed a return of some anxiety.

Maybe energy has something to do with anxiety as well??

I have fiddled around with lots of ADs with my doctor and venlafaxine was finally the one that worked wondered for me. Eventually I did have to do some increases (225 mg) each morning but has been great for several years. Never did too well with anything else. I also recommend seeing your physician for this one. I agree there is not recreational use or any type of misuse at all.

So yea, your doc would be the best place to start by at least gathering some more info.

Good luck!  Smile
