It doesn’t knock you out as well as instant release zolpidem. It also didn’t keep me sleeping any longer. As far as helping keep benzo tolerance lower, if you were to never take a benzo and stick to zolpidem you would be much better off. I used zolpidem for years and built tolerance and upped my dose but I never experienced problems till I started to use actual benzos. Now I have already suffered three seizures in my life trying to stop benzos. So yes, if you can use zolpidem instead of benzos, you are better off.
