COVID UPDATES. TIME TO DECIDE ABOUT SPREADING COVID
(07-30-2021, 09:59 PM)Charon Wrote: I cannot believe the people now on the covid private forum. One family was vaccinated. But for 2 very young children. The family got covid again and only the mom survived. Five dead whom were vaccinated. Took precautions.

And people on that forum say: Good. Anyone who did not get the vaccine, or who allegedly got the vaccine and then got sick, deserves it.

This illness has brought out the absolute worst in many a person.

We put it up as a Meme, but it is true: After the pandemic, I don't want to see many of you then either.

Walls have gone up. People do not care for others.

It's really sad to hear that people behave in such ugly ways. I don't know why people get so judgemental about illness (it was the same with AIDS many years ago).

In the UK most people are going for the vaccine and the majority have had their 2nd shot. It's almost entirely the Delta Variant that's circulating here so the vaccines aren't quite as good. Seems they still decrease your chances of getting COVID, but if you do get it then it's unlikely to put you in hospital - that's the government message, which you'll notice ignores people with disabilities or chronic illnesses.

The division in the UK is more about wearing masks or not e.g. on public transport. The UK Government no longer requires masks in England (Scotland, Wales and N Ireland have their devolved governments/assemblies who make their own decisions). I really don't understand why Boris Johnson removed the rule about masks. Yes he wanted to open everything up again, and his instincts are sort of libertarian (despite having been forced to enact these lockdowns). But you can give people back all their normal rights to go where they like and meet indoors with who they want to, but masks don't interfere with any of those rights. It's already been made clear that anyone who has a medical problem with wearing a mask was exempt. But the rest of us really should be wearing masks. I find it mind-boggling that people using the London Underground, including the deep tunnels where there is little fresh air, don't wear masks.

As there are people in my life who would not survive COVID, so I have to be very careful not to walk it into their houses. If I'm using public transport then I'm certainly wearing a mask - same if I go to a poorly ventilated shop. I go for FFP2 and FFP3 types, which are European standards, a bit like N95 for the USA. They are slightly uncomfortable after a while and the FFP3 (highest grade) are expensive. However I wouldn't need these respirator masks if everyone else was wearing their cloth or surgical masks.

Recently I was "pinged" by the UK COVID app to let me know I'd been in close contact with someone who had tested positive the next day (so they were in their infectious stage). I didn't get it thanks to the combination of vaccination and mask wearing. However that's me being careful and no thanks to the Government.

Take care out there, especially you Charon. x
