Texas is 2.8x the size of the UK. I knew Texas was big, but not that BIG! As for that rainfall, 43" is over 1 metre. Wow, just thinking about the force and weight of that much water. I literally cannot imagine how such serious rain would look... and there was me thinking we were the kings of rain over in England. 
It's a state I'd love to visit one day, but I'd want to avoid the obvious touristy bits (except the Grand Canyon) and see more of it for real.
