Drop the insurance if you're not going to use it. Takes only a few hours to get new insurance when needed.
Pull the battery and keep it on a charger otherwise it'll be dead in a month.
Start the car once a month and run it till reaches operating temperature. Move it to a different location if possible. Helps keep rats out of the motor.
For registration, when the bill arrives, you can file for 'Planned Non Operation' so the fee will be zero $ till you decide to re-register
You may not be able to park the vehicle on public property un-registered. The registration notice should explain those options.
